I think it has always been 24 months. The Sapphires I believe are 48 months.
You have to earn the 125k points in the same calendar year to get the companion pass. Best practice for companion pass is to get the Biz around Nov, complete your spend dec so your bonus points post in Jan. Also get the personal in Dec and complete your spend so your bonus posts in Jan. This way you get to keep the pass for a full 24 months.

I don't remember when I got my bonus point last, if I apply, would they immediately let me know if I qualify or not? I don't want the card if I don't. TIA.

When you do this, Chase Bank can and have taken points back when you close before 6-8 months

Research you will see
NO, they don't. Once the points are in your Southwest account, Chase hase nothing to do with them. You do some research and or provide your proof

So if I get his card this month and this December I'm at 100,000 points, then apply for their business card at the end of December, I should get the companion pass starting in January too the end of 2026? Trying to maximize the CP. noob to all of this. Thanks for any advise to those who are experienced in these deals

If you get the card this month you'll have 3 months to hit the bonus and you'll lose it on new years day (companion pass points reset every calendar year)

I would personally apply for the business card in October(to avoid chase 5/24 if you have other chase cards) then the personal SW card in November. This gives you 3 months on both cards rolling into new years so you don't risk the reset and to hit the bonus point requirement. Then the only task is to pass that bonus finish line requirement into the new year. Wait for statements to post and you should have a companion pass easily with the two cards by Feb 2025 for 23 total months (Feb2025 - Jan 1st 2027)

You can go into the Southwest app, then your account and check points activity. It has a breakdown of each time you were awarded points with dates.

They only have it up to one year 🥲

The referral topic has been touched on in previous posts, but in case it's not clear...

BEFORE applying for the SW card to take advantage of this 85k points promo (which ends JUNE 26!) make sure to have someone (friend, family member, any existing SW cardholder) send you a referral link...

1. https://www.chase.com/referafriend/swafamily - existing cardholder uses this link to generate their personalized referral link

2. obtain the referral link from your friend; use that link to apply for the card

3. person doing the referral gets 20k bonus points (~8 weeks after the new applicant is approved)

If my wife is an authorized user on my SW account, if we signed up under her name, would she qualify for the bonus?

The terms state "the product is not available to either (i) current Cardmember." So is an AU considered a card member?
