Green drives are low power. Good for everyday sorts of tasks.

Blue are also general use drives but can handle larger files easily.

Black is basically faster, more premium version of blue.

Red is for NAS, they're optimized for multiple people reading and writing to the drive at once.

Purple has very low write speeds and higher read speeds, used with surveillance software that will always only be writing to the drive at the speed the camera can capture.

Gold is like red, but beefier in specs and design, designed for heavy use of multiple users in enterprise environments.

Looks like only 2.5" hard drives or solid state drives. This drive is 3.5".

What's good for archiving? I'm assuming blue because it can handle larger files

Single drive setup doesn't usually belong together in the sentence with "archiving".

Archiving on a single drive without a reliable backup == you've made a garbage disposal, not an archive.

When (not if) it fails, you'll be sorry (if you've got no backup facility for your "archive").
