Has anyone used this? I've been using POD GO and was just wondering how it compared to this.

I've used the me-80, and am thinking of upgrading to the 90. I like the knob focused orientation - makes tweaking the setting more natural for me

I hadn't realized that this was new and different from the ME-80.

It seems like a good option if you want a one-knob-per-function multi effects setup with no/minimal menu diving.

Worth looking up more details, but I've "briefly read somewhere" that the ME-90 was a disappointment. Might be worth sticking with an ME-80. But do more research and let me know, lol.

Played with a lot of these pedals. If you're in this price range, you're going to want the Line6 Pod Go. No brainer.

If you're on an even tighter budget you could get a Line6 Pod Express ($180 base price but wait for 15-30% discount and it's a great deal), and a footswitch or two. I've heard pretty good things about it and that the onboard amp/cab models are pretty nice too. This could be a potential all-in-one rig for a lot of people.

If you are on an even tighter budget, there's a lot of pedals on AliExpress that sound shockingly good.

I mean yea, you could make a semi-convincing argument for the Cube Baby. I have the Cuby Baby AC and it's a bit underwhelming though... maybe the original Cube Baby is better, relatively speaking.

The Tank G also looks very interesting (and the Youtube reviews that are out are quite impressive) - I actually ordered one to try out Smilie

Knob is key for me. As a predominantly pedal user, sifting through screens is a hard sell for me. I loved how this sounded at GS, the models are a step up from the -80 imo.

I use a Zoom G5n and I love it. It has knobs for each patch so it has a very natural feel and it's easy to use. It sounds great too. Might not sound as good as some of the more expensive $1k+ units, but the difference is extremely minimal. After tweaking the drive and EQ settings for a particular amp, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.

The true slick deal is to buy it at Alto Music at 15% off ($297.50) or price match at a national chain like guitar center that has a store in your area so that you can do easy returns if needed.

I am not sure why anyone buys these. GuitarFX pedal software on the computer gives you thousands of efx pedals to work with for free. I just plug my guitars directly into my computer.

I'm not trying to get coy here. I found your question intriguing so I wanted to come up with a few answers.

1. Musicians who wanna take their patches with them to gigs and be able to play/switch without needing to fiddle with your laptop.

2. Dedicated hardware handles DSP maybe better than just VSTs getting processed over CPU threads

3. Being able to get a tactile feel for your expression pedal, on demand patch slots etc is good to have, as well as a ports for other peripheral neeeds

I think it's mainly 1 and 3. Running everything on a laptop makes it difficult to quickly switch patches, which is a problem for live shows.

But I don't think number 2 is correct. The CPU in a laptop is extremely powerful compared to what they put in these multi-effects pedals.
