Does this have to be screwed into the house? I remember they used to make clips that fit between siding for the older outdoor cams.

According to reviews, this has a microSD slot so you can store recordings locally without the need to pay for a monthly subscription.

Battery life up to 6 months, but will only last around 2 weeks if recording continuously.

How does WYZE integrate with home assistant? I got TP-Link MagCam and I am not able to connect it to HA.

If you have a Fire TV you add the skill on Alexa then just talk to your TV and ask "Alexa show me my front door camera". Also, you can activate the alerts and Alexa will tell you if it detects a person. Really cool and allows personalization for different things.

Nice, Thanks. I don't have a fire tv, The Alexas I have don't have screen.
Can person detection be used as a trigger for automation in alexa's app?

Check out wyze docker bridge. I personally do not use it, but it may be a solution. I first used the motioneye addon and the rtsp firmware on the V2 cams. Now I use viseron with the same rtsp firmware and it gets into HA with MQTT

If you have a TV with HDMI port you can connect a fire stick it will improve your experience with the wyze cameras.

I purchased these during the last sale and returned them the next day.
I fully charged them, did the update's, installed an sd card, set it to record to sd card, changed the quality to 2k and even got the cam unlimited plan.
The bitrate and compression is so bad I couldn't make my own face out from 5 ft away.
These cameras look great when live viewing them, but the recorded quality is worse than 480p.

Don't recommend - reposting bullets from my comment on the last wyze cam deal:
  • definitely don't use it indoors (look into the recent privacy issues they've had, more than once).
  • their integration with other services is non-existent and they don't support RTSP
    • No direct home assistant integration
    • if you want to tinker with them like I tried and make RTSP work, it's not reliable (Wyze RTSP bridge) or has potential to brick the camera (custom firmware to add RTSP), so I still haven't been able to get them on home assistant.
  • they generally push you to pay for cloud storage (ads and buttons that will take you to it in the app)
    • I added them to Google home but the feed won't show up on my phone for my Google hub.
    • they send push notification ads every so often, super annoying (same channel as normal app notifications so you can't block them on android at least)
  • The SD card option is nice, but the recordings are only accessible through their own app, so there's no easy way to directly view on a larger screen.
    • you can clip and share the video but that's a multi-step process which shouldn't be necessary
I would rather pay more once and have have less but better and more reliable cameras, like reolink or some other IP camera.

For reference, I own 8 of these.

Connecting to a solar panel in good sun, you won't need to worry about recharging it manually.

If you have vinyl siding Amazon has clips. I didn't use them for this, but for a led solar powered light. If you have steel, very very strong magnets can work. I did not use for camera but for an oversized sign that displayed my house numbers. For the magnet the weight limit is in perfect conditions thicker metal and for a horizontal mounting. It takes a lot more magnet to do a vertical mount

edit. I think I used 4 100 lbs magnets for my 20ish lbs sign.
