The Apple price during their back to school sale is $849.
So $50 away from that is a decent price.

Why? Is there not much of a difference between M1 and M3 to justify extra cost?
The m2 is a bit faster, perhaps 10 percent, and it has a marginally better, larger screen, and slightly less bezel. It has an explicit MagSafe port for charging, so essentially fees up a usbc port. Two become usable. MacOS support will last another year or two perhaps.
Aside from that it's pretty much the same.
I suggest ignoring the people who post about SSD speeds. Without a stopwatch nobody should care.
Excellent price on an Apple product that can actually utilize MacOS & comes with a keyboard vs an Ipad with an M2/M4 in it that doesn't take advantage of the OS and then if you need a keyboard (for the ipad) need to spend extra on it!
