A replacement for Adobe InDesign (Affinity Publisher), Adobe Photoshop (Affinity Photo), and Adobe Illustrator (Affinity Designer).

Publisher is for documents / text-heavy things, Photo is for pictures / raster, and Designer is for graphic design / vector art.

Does anyone know if this license will only work on a single computer or can it be used on a laptop and desktop (something like a 3 device license maybe).

Edit: found the below in FAQs
As a private individual you can install Affinity apps on as many devices as you own which run the operating system you have purchased a license for (of course in the case of a Universal License that means you can install on any iPads, Macs or Windows PCs you own). Other people (for example, members of your household) are also allowed to use the apps on those devices. However, only you are allowed to use the apps for commercial use—if any members of your household need to make commercial use of the apps as well they will need to purchase their own license.

Can't blame them for doing a sale right after Adobe stuck their foot in their mouth (newly updated TOS that pretty much says Adobe has full access to anything you make with their software, can mine it with AI tools, and can make competing products from it).

Adobe has backpedaled saying "that's not what our intent is!"....but the TOS remains the same and doesn't explicitly exclude those things. So someone is BSing you.

Kudos to Affinity for capitalizing on their competitor's mistakes.

After many years of Lightroom I realized Adobe would like to abandon the professional/prosumer market, with the introduction of Classic and CC. Adobe wants everyone off the Classic plan eventually. Now is a smart time to really consider what you use Lightroom for.

After a long search, there is no good 1:1 alternative for Classic. For me, the cataloging/collections and quickly viewing RAWs for selects was the most powerful part of Lightroom.

I've now split the cataloging/collections from the editing photo RAWs and have landed on Photo Mechanic + Affinity Photo. It's not perfect but it works great for my use case. And now I don't have a monthly or yearly subscription to anyone.

How would the Affinity Photo compare to the Luminar Neo photo editing software. Luminar has good AI functionality, does Afinity Photo have any AI functionality?

Picked up Photo, thanks! Photoshop has become a bloated, overpriced mess.

I mean Photos is pretty good, but if you want a pro level solution maybe Capture One still sells perpetuals? It's Aperture like.
IMO Photos is a pile of laundry where you have to use color and texture to pick out an outfit, while Aperture was a walk-in closet.

This is worth it for nearly everyone considering such a product. Design pros may need Adobe just cuz they're expected to have it, but I'm a design pro that could certainly get by w/ affinity alone!
how do you get around with adobe acrobat pro?

Thanks for the post. I was able to go from V1 to V2 Package for $62.24. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/...ade-offer/ [serif.com]
Why not buy a new license(instead of upgrading) and you will have 2 Licenses even though one is still V1?

edit

I did some research and it seems like some prefer Affinity V1 because of some issues stated here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Affinity...all_on_20/

If you want universal upgrades option seems like you should invest $20 and buy another license until they iron the bugs out.

That would be great, too, tbh.

So far, I'm now transitioning to DaVinci Resolve (free up to 4K60 exports, which is more than enough) and it looks like a great replacement for Adobe Premiere Pro--and it's free.

Have you tried DaVinci Resolve? Any pros / cons vs software you use now?
I'm a video editor and use Resolve all the time. It's 100% as good as other editing software (better in many ways IMO), and the free version lets you do all the basic things the vast majority of people want to do.

The upgrade plan from v1 to v2 is much more expensive, almost equivalent to buying a new one, which totally kills the desire to switch to v2.

I hope they don't turn to subscription basis. They were bought by Canva, which is a subscription. I am still learning how to use the Affinity Suite, but I read that they're bringing more features into Canva from Affinity for more advanced users.
The fact that they sold to Canva shows they didn't have confidence in keeping the perpetual license model as sustainable for them. I'd argue that the team did the best they could but realized they just can't make it work. Hence selling to Canva allows Canva to eventually charge a subscription premium while they are rewarded for the initial buy-out. We lose in the long run but we Serif users should be glad that the team respected the product and us as consumers. Big props to them.

Yes, Affinity Designer is the equivalent to Adobe Illustrator. It still isn't 1:1 but it's about 80~90% there IMO. Since it works on iPads I'm happy with it since I can use the Pen and sync it back to desktop with ease.

Affinity makes great stuff. I use Publisher a lot but I'm kinda locked into PS and LR because I can't find an equivalent photo manager that can also do the kind of edits LR does. I wish Affinity would make a LR equivalent. I think they'd make bank with at least hobbyists (and there are a few of us) fleeing Adobe.
