bought this 2 years ago to replace the classic NS-ZCC10 that bit the dust due to some improper handling (long story...)

anyway, a couple things I wish I kept the original neuro fuzzy one:
1. The pot has no handle, just plain steel all around. good luck grabbing that thing out of the cooker while it's hot.
2. The power cord is detachable, unlike the self-winding in the old trusty neuro fuzzy. maybe this is a feature for some, but I don't like it.
3. I really can't tell the difference in the umami vs jasmine setting... just takes a bit longer is all.

it will cook rice perfectly 6 ways to sunday though...

IH is nice, but that model is 3 cup only, vs 10 cup for this Umami. A similar deal on that unit would also be sub or near $200, with the current price being about average.

What sold me on the Umami was that it's both a rice cooker and slow cooker, taking up less storage space. The Umami can also steam, whereas the 3 cup cannot.

What's the benefit of something like this over just an instantpot?

Perfect rice. Made in Japan. Will last a long time. If you're not going to use it everyday, Instapot will do.

How does this compare to the kitchen aid rice and grain cooker here:

The Umami is exclusively made in Japan. Zojirushi's comparison page is quite helpful and lets you filter by "Made in Japan":

This may be a good deal for this model, however the highest rated Made in Japan Zojirushi induction heating model is "only" about $40 more in many cases (prices fluctuate, ofc). If I was spending this type of money on a rice cooker — I'd go with the induction heating model.

Here's the model for reference (make your own call whether it's worth the extra money): https://a.co/d/fsMXfzp

My old Zojirushi inner pot is scratches. Been trying to look replacement but it cost about $100 for inner pot only. Anyone know where to buy inner pot for cheaper price ?

Fair enough. I read an absolute glowing review on the Induction model, though. And yes, the one you liked is absolutely larger at 10 cups… but damn, who is making 10 cups a rice at a time? I would presume that 3 cups are more than enough for most American families, but clearly they do make larger capacities and I guess some people really do need that larger capacity.

I use rice cooker for decades. And still couldn't tell the difference from different rice cookers. Can anyone explain why this worth more than 200 dollars?

We do Jasmine rice at home daily. The Umami rice (if I recall correctly) uses more water and cook longer due to grain differences. Using white/jasmine will under cook the Umami.
