First, a very powerful headphone amplifier is 100% necessary to get even semi-decent sound out of the he6se. Hifiman recommends an absolute minimum of 2 watts per channel into 50 ohms, and many people who own these headphones recommend up to 5 watts into 50 ohms, which is an absolutely ludicrous amount of power. If you don't already have a very powerful desktop dac-amp setup, don't even think about buying these.
Second, and more importantly, the sound quality of the hifiman edition xs is arguably in a similar league to the he6se while requiring far less power to drive and being far cheaper, $379 new or $279 manufacturer refurbished with full warranty. Build quality is also similar (as in both have poor build quality, quality control, and longevity, as is par for the course with hifiman).
Unless you already have a ludicrously powerful headphone amp and absolutely adore the sound signature of the he6se specifically, I'd avoid this "deal". If you're willing to take the chance on an open box or refurbished hifiman headphone, do yourself a favor and get the $279 edition xs instead.

But these used to be a billion dollars and I have the perfect apple dongle to power this.
