Cheaper than a similar offering I saw at Costco not too long ago (if you use S&S). I'm in for a box using subscribe and save.

Got this last November. Wasn't that big of a hit in our household - barely any quinoa. Not too flavorful.

This is probably a closeout on the old package. I see that the new package says that there is less than 2% of each of quinoa, tomato powder, onion powder and garlic powder. I don't need the quinoa but I want more tomato at least. I think I want to make my own but the amount of Red Bell Pepper is an advantage.

This is as close you can get to false advertising without technically being so. How can you put quinoa in big bold letters and put in only that little?

I often read ingredients. I see this happen often. Food that claims to have Brown Sugar is mostly other sugar. I have seen salad dressing called Sesame Ginger dressing with no Ginger. People should read the ingredients.

I haven't had this exact flavor but I pretty regularly buy this brand when on sale. Look it at as a convenience flavored rice product rather than a mixed grain. You can absolutely make better grains and/or much cheaper rice but where this stuff shines is if you're cooking a single meal for 1 or 2. If I'm meal prepping, I cook rice myself, this is more to encourage myself to order delivered food less. I'll cook up some kind of protein and then chuck this in the microwave right before that finishes and have a meal in 10-15 minutes. Usually something like a ground beef based scramble or egg and tomato scramble (Chinese recipe). When I was extra lazy I paired this with some Indian lentils (Tasty Bite Madras Lentils was the brand that was on Slickdeals at the time) and have a fairly satiating, low calorie lunch in like 2 and a half minutes. Honestly was pretty tasty and good for weight loss.

I won't dump a bunch of details here but animals do not make protein. The details are more complicated than that but for me it is amusing and frustrating when people call meat protein.

For those that understand the subject better than I, I know that it is actually amino acids, not protein, that is relevant and that it is only nine essential amino acids that are relevant that animals, including people, cannot make.
Not to be pedantic but I never said animal. Out of the 3 examples I gave above, ground beef is animal protein, egg is vegetarian (not vegan), and lentils are vegan. Wasn't intentional or anything, these were just 3 meals that came to mind but happened to cover a good assortment.
It's usually used in dining context and doesn't have to be animal protein, but often is.
Imo meal isn't complete with some kind of more protein dense pairing but yeah nothing is stopping anyone from just treating the packet of grains as an all in one meal. I just wouldn't personally feel satiated

Same. We were happy when we were down to the last bag. I can't imagine it now with less flavor.

So, this is incorrect (like, completely incorrect). Animals definitely do make proteins - and "meat" (or, muscle tissue) is heavily composed of protein. Lots of other parts of animals are proteins as well.

Proteins are made of amino acids and made via various enzymes within cells based on "directions" from DNA. (Note - enzymes are proteins as well).

Now, if you meant essential amino acids - or those that humans can't make themselves via cellular/molecular processes - and saying they aren't in meat, that's incorrect also. Because other animals ("meat"/muscle) require them as well, they eat foods that have them and, in turn, they are in animal products (including meat/muscle) so you can get them from eating just meat.

Just google muscle, protein synthesis, and similar and you'll find some really great information on the entire topic - and be less frustrated by people when they are correct Wink. Suggest Wikipedia as a first place, since it'll be generally correct.

Brown sugar tbf is just white sugar and molasses lol. It's like saying chocolate milk is mostly milk (which it is)

I did not say that essential amino acids are not in meat. I did say that I was omitting details. Essential amino acids are called essential because animals do not make them. You know that. Please tell others.
