If you're not typically an audiobook person or if you haven't yet dipped your toe in and need a place to start, this is THE book I'd recommend!

I'm not much of a book reader, but took this on and plowed through it. So great. I've heard high praise for the audio book and the Movie just started shooting.

Curious to see how the movie turns out, but this is one of my favorite books, so I hope it's well executed.

Everyone is different I guess. For me this book is very similar in concept to The Martian (smart guy survives away from Earth using science and a plucky attitude) but is quite a bit inferior to it. I really didn't like how both main characters sounded like exactly the same guy. Most of what happens in The Martian seems pretty plausible, but Project Hail Mary has some real hand-wavy elements. I'd definitely recommend The Martian over this.

Fair point. PHM has some plot armor and engineering in the fly, but I personally liked it better overall. We'll see how true the movie stays to the book.

I agree. A really fun and absorbing audiobook. I've enjoyed all of his books.

Thank you! I loved The Martian. Also, I had a digital credit that I forgot about which was set to expire in 6 days. Great timing!

You're probably right but I'm such a sci-fi dilettante none of that occurred to me and now you're totally ruined PHM for me. Hope you're happy!

As long as we're doing reviews...

I liked both. But the martian was way better. Couldn't put the martin down! PHM, from what I remember, was a little long and got slow at parts.

Will definitely catch the movie though. Doubt it'll be as good as the book (they never are). Seems like PHM will be more difficult to turn into a movie that the martian was, though
