For example, I own a Samsung A32 5G, which has some very low notional value (like $5), so if I did this deal I would get $5 up front and the other $495 spread over 24 months. So my EIP would be less than $1/month net of the credits, but if I leave T-Mobile before 24 months, I lose the remaining credits.
I am a long-time RAZR fan (I have 2 legacy RAZRs as collectors items, as well as a StarTac and a TimePort), but this phone got some pretty bad online reviews about screen crease issues and other QC issues. That said, I'm a bit tempted to jump on this, but it's more like I don't want to be disappointed. Instead, I may jump on the $99 Samsung A35 with any working trade, and use the Costco upgrade gift card to theoretically offset most of that cost.

$499.99 -- no trade, no credits --OR-- $0 with trade and bill credits.
Your initial post was a bit confusing to me as it clearly showed the trade in and bill credits, while the title said no credits (and admittedly the $499.99 price).
FWIW, I think the thumbs down was because most aren't conditioned to pay $500 for a device anymore, it's all bill credits, etc. I'm sure if I posted an iPhone 15 for $599.99 I'd get a worse response as people would say that $200 off retail isn't a "deal", and it's available with bill credits at most carriers for free with trade.
