The k2 seems to not be the v2 version. That version fixed a few shortcomings of the v1.

I've had 2 over the past 4 years and I love them, I upgraded the the QMK version when that was launched and still use it today. The aluminum frame is a significant upgrade over the plastic chasis since it stays put and has a good feel. The only downsides of this version of the K8 are that it has non-removeable blue switches, and there's no backlight/RGB. If you don't care about either then this is a great deal on a quality keyboard

Do you happen to know if Keychron has sales at certain times annually?

Never looked into their keyboards but now am and I'm trying not to pay $220+30 or 40 in shipping to the US for a keyboard.

Unless you know of any other good keyboards that are 96 or 100% southpaw, alice layouts?

Welcome to the black hole.. Try sites like Divinikey and mechanicalkeyboards. Divinikey has free shipping if it helps after 99+ is better than keychron. Also amazon has some but availability differs

Interesting. Did you get these from the Sub Reddits (Mech/ ErgoMech) or the other Mech Key forums?

What is 99+ ? Another Brand.

What are Amazon suggestions to look for when available?

great keyboard for $40 if you really like blue switches. its not hot swappable so you're stuck with blues which is no bueno if you don't like blues.

He's talking about cost of 99$+ keychron is a good entry level budget brand but once you go beyond that $100 other options become better.

Chillkey ND75
Rainy 75

Both good to check out and affordable.

What I like about Keychron VS many other keyboards is that they're compatible with Mac out of the box and they even have the proper Mac symbols on the keyboard.

I have a Keychron K2 rgb + wireless + steel + brown keys which I bought a few years ago and I'm pretty happy with it. I use it every day. I like typing on it, it has a decent feel to it.

We all know that RGB adds 10% FPS to all games.

Has anyone tried these Silent Switches and can give a review or an alternate solution? Noise is my biggest concern with switching to Mechanical

I have tried lots of these low-to-mid-range mechanical keyboards over the years, and this one, with the Blue switches, is my fav. I type all day at work and i use the full size (104 key version of this one) for every day use. (I use wired and aluminum frame).

I liked it so much I got the tenkeyless version for my "side" computer at my desk. If I worked from home, I would definitely buy one for home too.

Note: these gateron blues are even louder than a cherry blue. If you, like me, tend to hammer the keys into bottom out, this is one of the loudest KBs around. I have one coworker who is bothered enough by it that I bought the brown switch version, and I actually swap to it when he's around laugh out loud So I guess I own three of these.

I love the retro color scheme; note finger grime does show more quickly than black so I have to clean it more often.

Wow never thought I'd see Keychron keyboards on Woot! I've had the K8 with brown switches for 3 years now as my daily driver, and it's been a solid keyboard. Very approachable mechanical upgrade to standard mediocre membrane keyboards without having to splurge for enthusiast mechanical keyboards or flashy gaming mechanical keyboards.

That being said, make sure you want blue switches bc they can be quite loud. And make sure whoever you live with or work with can tolerate it too lol.
