I'm reaching out in frustration, hoping someone can assist me. I purchased a Moto G Power 5G 2024 and activated it on Straight Talk. After following all the guidelines, including the required 60-day wait, I confirmed that the phone is eligible for unlocking. However, I now find myself trapped in an endless cycle of blame between Straight Talk and Motorola, with no resolution in sight.

The Straight Talk unlocking department insists that the phone should unlock automatically, but it hasn't. When I insert a SIM card from another carrier, the phone displays "network locked." Dialing #TFUNLOCK# only results in the message "device is sim locked" without providing any unlocking options.

Straight Talk claims this is a device issue and refers me to Motorola support, while Motorola support redirects me back to Straight Talk's unlocking department. I've factory reset the device twice and restarted it more than 10 times, yet the issue persists. I'm completely stuck and just want to unlock my phone!

I have registered a complaint with FCC but not sure how that will help to resolve my issue.

Has anyone else encountered this issue, or does anyone have any advice on how to resolve it?
Edit: I have disputed the charges with my credit card provider. I will await the outcome.

Dude... read THEN POST. There are many people experiencing it. Go back about 5 pages and read forward.

There is no solution, we likely won't ever get this resolved.

If we get lucky, Straight Talk will actually do what they promise in their terms and send an unlock code to our phones. Until then, not a single thing we can do.

Also, FCC and BBB complaints are worthless, even though I did them anyways. I disputed with my credit card company this morning.

I think the reason it is not unlocked is because it is not eligible in the tracfone database. If I check https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/ then it says my phone is not eligible. but If I check 611611 it says eligible.
Tracfone network is responsible for the unlocking.

Again - you need to read thread.
This phone is supposed to automatically unlock, it doesn't unlock with manual codes lke previous androids.
It's been mentioned here numerous times that there's no reason to enter anything on the manual unlock page, it won't work for this model.

Phone number will be lost at the 61th-62th days after activation if you just paid 1st month. 611611 Text will stop working after that. The eligibility is tied to IMEI not phone number, and stays for ever even without active phone service. You can test it with just entering IMEI in the unlocking portal, text to 611611 with an active Tracfone-brand sim or even verifying with TF unlocking dept. The unlocking dept. customer service even mentioned that the phone was already marked "unlocked" in their system in spite of the fact that the phone is still locked. The root of the problem is the immaturity and deficit in auto-unlock used in Android phone.

Why is everyone making FCC instead of FTC complaints.

Appears numbers will be recycled after 60 days inactive so 90 days total with 1 month paid.

One of my phones still can send and receive texts to any number inactive after 45 days still.

Weird, that must have changed. I am a heavy eBay seller and when eBay used PayPal for payments, it was ALWAYS 6-months (180 days) for the buyer to dispute. Or perhaps that was an eBay only thing?

They did change it a bit: https://www.paypal.com/us/cshelp/...s-help1173

"Significantly Not as Described: Dispute must be opened within 30 days of the date of delivery or fulfillment (as applicable) of an order or within 180 days of the date you sent the payment to the seller, whichever is sooner."

Quote from oregon14 :
Might have to stop using PayPal (which then goes to my CC). At least the CC dispute time is 60 days after I receive the bill, that's quite a bit longer.
ST never uploaded tracking to Paypal and after 120 days UPS/Fedex purges the database. Can simply open never received to get money back through paypal after 120 day of delivery through 180

Just got mine from order on ST website. Activated online to start the clock but haven't even turned on the phone or put the sim card in. Might wait a couple of weeks for any updates in this thread.

It does not matter what you do yourself. It will change nothing.

No matter what you do, make sure to activate it. Until you do that, the clock won't start.

Pretty sure that's considered fraud since phone was activated and used.
Would just make the situation worse.

I activated online. Does the clock not start until the phone is turned on(with sim card inserted)?

You are set, just wanted to make sure you at least did that step. No need to turn on phone.
