Have a 20 year old model, and the more recent iteration from about five years ago. One of her things where quality is still there, and the newer ones have a fold down on the metal lip which is incredibly useful.

Also if you are wondering why the OP posted this early, understand that knowing this is going to go on sale and when can be very useful.

Yeah ok, dude.

It's Cosco, btw - a company that has nothing to do with Costco except for the fact that Costco happens to carry this hand truck of theirs. They make a bunch of other carts/hand trucks and ladders, and are a reputable manufacturer.

Good Dolly overall but be careful with the handle. It's hollow metal tubes and they are already bent at an angle. When moving a refrigerator the handle bent very badly and you can't pry it back up because that will split the metal tube. Just be careful. I replaced my bent handle with some 1/2" galvanized pipe when it broke.

is this enough to move around a 55 gallon drum full of water that weighs about 500 lbs? The description says it is rated at 800 lb capacity, but I want to know if its built so the bottom plate can support a 500lb drum

Apparently so, but if you're trying to do this outside in grass/dirt, you're probably not going to have a great time.

thanks OP. i have a dolly from Sears I think (Milwaukee brand or something). the tire went flat and I cant get the darn thing out to switch (have a replacement wheel). after many months of trying, I may just spend the $100 and get this.

If you're talking about adding a couple of ratchet straps to go around a fridge or stove, you're kind of limited there - bungie cords and small ratchet straps frequently use a hook that doesn't quite fit around the tubing, and grabbing the u-channel main structure can damage it as well as interfere with converting to other modes. It is doable with a little planning, picking ratchet straps with the right hooks and maybe grabbing a couple of quick-links for attachment points. It's not commercial grade but it's priced fairly.
