Any ghost got the 9950x engineer sample?

Is 9950x really 7950x+16% like AMD said?

Ryzen 9000 comes out next month so they are trying to move inventory, if you don't care then this is a good price.

The 7950X3D under $500 is a value in it's own right, but I already have a 13600K system. If I can nab the X3D version of this processor for $410 I might just bite, because why not. We shall see what the coming months bring.

Not a good value proposition to jump from a 13600K to anything that's out right now, but I'm a geek like that.

This deal is for a non x3D cpu. non x3D is announced to arrive in July by AMD. x3D is RUMORED to come out or be announced in September.

But if you were getting an X3D CPU most of the time it's for gaming and the 7800X3D is still the fastest one for gaming. Now with other stuff in mind I can understand it though.

I've owned a 7950X for a couple years now and I love it. This machine also has an RTX4090 Suprim, a 49" Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor, 64 GB of DDR5 6000 RAM, and 4 TB of NVMe storage along with a 10 Gbps fiber network connection. I've been able to run everything I've thrown at it with ease including a lot of heavy duty Blender 3D modeling. When I'm ready to upgrade to something else I'll transfer its guts to a smaller case, add a 100 Gbps NIC, and convert it to a Proxmox server. My only "complaint" is that the 7950X runs hot all the time. I'm sitting here watching it idle at 50C, and that's with its own dedicated Corsair 360 water cooler in a Hyte Y60 case with lots of other fans running too. But I knew this was a hot CPU from researching it before I purchased it, so no big deal. Under heavy load it'll get up in the 80C to 90C range which sounds kind of scary but again, that's normal for this CPU and AMD designed it to withstand these high operating temps.

Overall at sub-$500 I'd say this is a no-brainer if you're in the market for a powerful CPU!
