I can speak FROM experience since I use Nord, that it's 10x better than my previous VPN (PIA) My 1GB FIOS connection, I can easily get 100+mb downloads going, and never had any issues with it disconnecting.
It also works for the Google/Youtube country trick to sign up for their premium service
It's been way faster than Express and has more servers. Plus, I can put it on my router. Only issues I've had with it are when servers cycle and I have to reconnect.

If you sell me something I can put on six devices and don't say it can be me and me only, I should be able to let family members put it on their computers, after all technically I bought the computer so they are on my devices. But again what I read is I can put it on 6 devices. Don't know if I would share a subscription, might give it to a friend, but don't really see if it matters if I give it to them free or have him give me a portion of the subscription. Again, my interpretation of the contract. If they say it has to be me and me alone, and specify the number of computers I either accept it or don't buy it.
I realize "sharing" is kind of a gray area, with this one promising 6 devices says to me it can be on six devices, so sharing is fine. I mean if you get too specific you open up all kinds of problems where either the license is for the user, or for the computer.
You can buy a book, read it, then sell it to someone else and all is good. An electronic book you buy a license for the book on that device making it harder to resell, which you should be able to do. I'm guessing many software companies don't want to look like the bad guy and purposely don't make the EULAs draconian. Might allow for some unintended consequences but imagine people sharing a purchase is rare. Back in the day when storage were floppy drives, at work we would all make an order to get the discount for buying at a lower per disk price.
Argument could be made for a group buys a 6 license package and shares them. Businesses do this and it is fine, so why not for a group of friends?
Anyway buying 6 licenses I should be able to share, resell or whatever with the product. While you can't resell an airline ticket you can resell/give/whatever a movie ticket or concert ticket. It's all about the agreement you enter when you buy the product.
Clearly buying 6 licenses is not pirating if it is only put on six computers. Now if you put it on more that is a whole different story.
I say this because my initial NORD subscription was exactly like this, the retail version. It was bundled with another item. In March I bought the Woot deal for $25 and extended my subscription. No issues, added a year to my subscription. Will just tack this one on to my subscription.
Sometimes there are deals where you get something at a discount, and when you renew you have to renew at a higher rate, maybe your first subscription was that. But since you were able to create a new account you should now be able to renew with the retail licenses.

Took around 3 hours to get the activation code (tracking number in the shipping notification email).
It's sort of like airline tickets, priced from insanely cheap to insanely high. While the service is good the list price is probably a price very few actually pay for not knowing there are options. Sort of like the retail price of Windows.
