i was looking for new batteries so somehow if i accumulate 3000kwh this year (plus inlet install) i would get 30% clean energy tax credit. unfortunately i believe in the IRS rules, it cannot be refurb/used (first time install or new only). just a heads up on these refurb batteries!

the credit is meant for installed batteries. It would be hard to argue a collection of tiny portable batteries are all part of an installation if one got questioned.

yes that is correct but i am in the market (depending on prices) on the whole home battery back up. already got an inlet installed on my panel this year - so yeah i do have sort of a plan. I assume all batteries as long as you reach the required 3kwh should be included but unclear with lack of IRS guidance.

Plugging them in is installing them. The IRS is not going to question, as long as you have receipts covering 3kwh, and you can show them the batteries in your house. They're reasonable.
