Recently bought this monitor and I've never seen a monitor look so good for gaming.

If you plan on using this monitor for work involving text then avoid this monitor. Text is extremely blurry. It's due to the core technology. None of the software workarounds posted online fix the core issue.

You'd think readable text would be one of the top priorities on a monitor?

One would think. But the tech in these models is the same as the tv panels and the text flaws cary over. So if text is more or equally as important as gaming then QD-Oled panels are the only viable option on the market right now. If gaming is the only priority then these panels are an okayish compromise.

I have this exact same model from the last LG deal and the text is a head ache inducing blurry mess. All the troubleshooting and research I did lead me to the same results - it's the core technology. OS's like windows can't compensate for these woled panels so the result is the weird tri color blurry black text that makes you feel like you're wearing drunk goggles. The effect shows up in pictures taken of the panel, many such pictures can be found in forums.

$749 on Amazon. Curved kills the deal for me though. Is there a non curved version?

Why do you dislike curved?

Bought and then I returned it, I bought a QD-OLED instead and couldn't be happier. Black crush is awful on LG's WOLED and color volume is so low. Even on the latest RGWB 32GS95UE it's still awful. I wanted a WOLED since reviews showed QD-OLED having raised blacks in a well-lit room. I learned they were showing the most extreme scenarios. My room is very well lit and the blacks are still deep. I only see the elevated blacks if I directly point a light at my monitor.

I usually keep my monitors for 4-6 years. I'm assuming with an OLED might be 3-4, there's no way I could stand the black crush and color banding of WOLED for that long.

I have 27" LG WOLED and 27" MSI QD-OLED. LG is only good for gaming, MSI is better for gaming and also can be used for work because it has KVM, USB Type-C video output with 90W power delivery and no text fringing. Both are great products but Samsung QD-OLED is better.

Have to buy a 32" for that. I hated curve (which i never tried it, just the idea of it). Until i bought the g8 34" curve oled. Im so impress that i would only buy curve widescreen monitor. Is beyong believe going from square monitor to a widescreen.

Do you have a rec of a QD OLED 34 inch ultra wide at a relatively reasonable price?

No I haven't researched it lately. I bought the first gen of the alienware ultra wide qd-oled a year or two ago and loved the screen but I had issues with fan noise so I returned it to wait for the tech to get better. It's possible the latest alienware qd-oled versions resolved the 1st gen problems so I recommend starting there.

I have had 2 of the Alienware Non OLED 34inch ultrawides and upgraded to the Lg OLED 42/48 inch tvs. I wish I would have skipped the 2x 34 inch and went straight to the Lg OLED since my desktop is primarily for gaming. For productivity the 34 inch with a 27 inch 1440p on top is the sweet spot since you can have 3 windows open comfortability. My point being if you primarily are playing video games go with a LG TV OLED if more than 3ft from the screen. If you need a mix of both productivity and gaming the 34 with a 27 inch 1440p on the top gives to room work on 2-3 windows at time plus the nice blacks from the OLED for gaming.
