As an FYI for anyone considering Razer laptops, I thought about buying used ones off Facebook Marketplace but repair parts are not as readily available as other manufacturers. Something to keep in mind once the warranty runs out.

There are also many issues with swelling batteries and overheating. Quality control with Razer is also not the best. But the machine looks and feels slick. I had blade 15 with 3060, so previous model and finally I sold it due to anxiety that if something will go wrong, repair will cost almost as much as used laptop.

Please don't buy razer laptops. They look and feel amazing, but I've had one spicy pillow within a year, and it's looking like another one is coming. They're way too compact to dissipate heat adequately to not have them develop. I've never once had this issue with any other laptop.

TLDR:
Owned 3 blades, if you don't game for extended periods every day these shouldn't be a problem. Wouldn't recommend slim gaming laptops in general if its going to be your daily driver. I.e. Zephryus has the swollen battery problem as well.

I owned 3 blades so far. 2 Razer blade 14 2016(used) and 2021(new) model and 1 Razer blade 15 2021(used) base model. From my usage it never got swollen, gaming roughly 2-4 hours about 3-5 times a week.

Gave my 2016 model to my cousin who games on it daily for 6+ hours a day and it got swollen within a few months. Caught it early and was a quick fix and its still alive and kicking til this day.

Is the swelling caused by heat or is it by the fact that it's always plugged in at 100% constantly while in use? Old MacBooks used to have the same problem, but it's because the battery is always at 100% while in use. I don't think heat was a problem. I wonder if there's a way to limit the battery charged to 80% and see if that still happens.

Both, Razer claims it limits it to 95% charge, but seeing it at 100% says otherwise. As far as I know there is no true way of limiting it.

I left mine plugged in for weeks at a time, but I don't go ham on it often. No active cooling on my end either. Just kept the laptop elevated. I still cycle it at least a few times a month though. Letting it empty to about 20% and charging it up to about 80% if I don't plan on gaming and just want to watch youtube or do some office work.

Yeah, I'm genuinely curious. I've had some Lenovo laptops that are slim but with powerful graphics card and never had issues with it swelling but on the Lenovos, you can actually limit the charge whatever you want. I kept my previous one at 60% while plugged in never had any issues with the battery swelling. But of course, it probably isn't the same battery manufacturer as razor so it's not really apples to apples. I know my old MacBooks the batteries were Sony that were problematic that was years ago with the MacBook pros but those had actually removable batteries It wasn't that big of a deal..

This laptop is 10x better for $100 more. Lighter, thinner, far better screen, better speakers, better gpu, way better battery life, etc.

The "Razer tax" is real! Even on sale, $1500 for a laptop with a 4060 is pretty steep.

Buy the G16 for $100 more…way better in every single way. Maybe Razer comes to their senses next year because Asus seriously brought the heat this year.
