There's a mismatch between the advertised capabilities on this Ebay page and certifications and what's shown on the Netgear specs page. This model, the MR6400, is only certified for Dish and AT&T and is missing many of the popular carrier 5G bands: https://kb.netgear.com/000065402/...le-hotspot

Honestly, I got a couple of this but the firmware didn't let me "fix it", I ended getting a GL iNet GL-XE3000 and that thing is amazing. You can fix it very easily, dual sim and on top of that you get OpenWRT. If you have the bucks to go for the GL-XE3000, do it, you won't regret it.

Tether without (low) data cap? Just TTL fix enough? Does network know it's a Non-phone device or that doesn't matter?

I used to have to rely on cellular internet and back then the secret sauce was either getting an inside guy at at&t to essentially white-list the device or getting the imei spoofed. Back then (5-6+ years ago I got actual service offered at my house, but prior to that) everyone would do whatever they could to get a tablet plan. At&t was generally the best service. They didn't care what you did with it, until they did, if that makes any sense. They would suddenly and unceremoniously terminate plans, including those of the then-ubiquitous resellers, and you had zero recourse and a useless doorstop until you found a new plan.

A lot of us got away with car mobile plans on mobleys for a long time. Those were dark days. You may also look into the Calyx institute.

My point and takeaway is that the networks ignore it up to a point if you game it to get another device on there, but they will cut you off with no warning when they feel like it. Luckily now in many markets good home cellular plans are available. I used to pay starlink money for shady resold at&t 4g plans!

In my case, I had an ipad with cellular, used it to activate my unlimited plan, then transferred the numbers from the ipad to the router + TTL and 0 issues. In my account it appears as my ipad and most of the time I use more data in the router than my phones lolol.

My account also reflects 0mbs of use of tether even tho I connect a bunch of stuff to it lolol

Thanks for the real-life experience.

1) Which provider/plan ?
2) Was the number transfer by just inserting the physical sim from tablet to the router, or some kind of soft SIM cloning?

old reply but the mr6400 supports more bands than the mr6500. The mr6400 band supports every mr6500 band and then some. The mr6500 doesn't even support Tmobile's US 5g bands.
