Bought one last month, same deal I think. Anyways it arrived dead, had some error code that prevented me from being able to charge it.

Contacted support, they said they'd take it back and send me another one. I sent it back and a month later, still no scooter. I called them and just told them to refund me and they did. Not a great experience having to contact support. Wouldn't buy from them again.

Be aware...it's 250 Watts ... Perfect for young adults. Not really good for people for my size. 200lbs 6'

I own a NIU KQi3 and it's great - i paid $600 for it 2 years ago. Super powerful, although a bit heavy. The NIU KQi1 has a top speed of 15.5mph. That's fine but not great. It will likely feel slow. Sort of a question of what you are doing with it and what you want from it...and what you're willing to spend. 15.5 is fine but a little casual. Niu makes great scooters though. Mine has been out in the rain without any issues

I bought one from Walmart during BF and it's been working great. We mainly ride it around the neighborhood 1-2x a week to keep up with the kiddos on their bikes. I've used it on a few commutes and it can tackle moderate hills, though very slowly around 4-5mph. Speed tops out at 15mph but I know it can go faster. Unfortunately the custom firmware on github is only for the KQi2 and KQi3. The bluetooth app provides the ability to lock the scooter and provides your riding data. I'm happy with it.

I have a couple of Niu scooters, the I3 and the Air X. The scooters are mostly great. The customer service is absolutely deplorable. A previous I3 was covered for warranty repair and they asked me to send it in (don't get rid of your box, they don't supply one and finding a box for the scooter is very hard). I sent it in, was told it would be back in a week, month goes by nothing, contact customer service at two weeks, a month, 6 weeks, different excuse each time. Eventually I made a big enough stink 4 months in that they sent me a new I3. Mind you, this whole time I was also waiting for my Air X that was supposed to have shipped for pre order in October. I didn't receive the air x until May. There are some idiosyncrasies with the software that are a pain. Also, look at how to change the tire that has the hub motor in it - it's almost impossible. There are no scooter companies by me that do it, no authorized repair centers even in the same state, no tire company, auto shop, bike shop, would even attempt it. Warranty repairs are sent to Texas so it's not like you can go over and see why it's taking so long. The main thing that attracted me to Niu was how they touted being a big company that wasn't going anywhere with plenty of spare parts, good customer service, etc. when the scooters work, they are great. If there is a problem, you'll wish you had gone with a different company.

To anyone considering purchasing an escooter, do yourself a favor and avoid pneumatic tires unless you're good with your hands. My first escooter with pneumatic tire had multiple flats which was a pain to replace/fix. My current e-scooter has Solid tires, best decision i made. Not as smooth of ride but gets me point a to point b stress free.
