Still at least 1 gen (most likely 2) away from good battery/performance ratio.
If these handhelds can all pack a 80w or larger battery and have roughly equivalent performance of a Z1 Extreme 30w TDP at 15-20w, we will be in business.
They need to start improving battery life on these things. Literally have to have it plugged up at all times unless you play indie games. Any kind of triple A titles it kills battery from my experience barely an hour. I heard the new ally with twice the battery size is supposed to be a good improvement.

the more things change the more they stay the same. It's just like game gear and atari lynx back in the day, totally portable...as long as there's a power socket where you're moving around LoLz
Oled is the killer tech to improve these issues in my experience.
Note the promo for those interested...can add a white ms xbox controller for like 36, those deals are usually pretty popular around here

The ROG Ally X that's coming in a few weeks will have 80whr and 24GB RAM.
Bestbuy. I was going to grab a new one but opted for Excellent Open Box to save an additional $91 ($458.99).
Good and Fair were even cheaper but after watching the last few BB deals it and open box it seems those are much more of a role of the dice and Excellent typically come in new condition.

Almost bought the trigger at Best buy for $629.99. I thought that was a pretty good deal. I'd much rather buy from Amazon. They're going to get it to me faster. Pretty sure the return window is twice as long and they're just generally way easier to deal with.

Same. Although I try to buy from BB whenever I can as well since I want to promote competition and keep B&M stores in business.
Bestbuy has now dropped it again to $629.99. Kind of surprised they haven't price matched.

Agree with most of what you said except for getting it to you faster. Best-buy has blown away Amazon in delivery speed in my experience. Amazon Prime free shipping these days means "Maybe-sorta 2-days, if we happen to have it in the same town as you already."
Lowest price I've seen for new. (Other than the Newegg deal and I don't really do Newegg anymore).
Been keeping an eye on it. Just grabbed a ROG Ally as well and going to compare them and see which I will keep.
Thinking it will be the Legion based on reviews I've watched, screen size and detachable controllers.
Never tried the ROG Ally, but had the Legion for a couple of weeks and it was great except for what I would say is its fatal flaw - the button placement on the right controller. The shoulder button is strange in that it curves very far around the shoulder of the device, and the rear buttons are placed in an unnatural location making them too easy to accidentally press, yet also difficult to use. IMO the button layout ruined the experience for me, and that wasn't something a patch could fix.
Otherwise it was a great device. A lack of a dedicated (or mappable, at the time of release + 3 months) button that translates to windows key + g/xbox button was a major issue as well, but fixable with software updates.

Appreciate the feedback. The ergonomics is one of the things I am curious about. Although I have a feeling I will either use my Elite controller or make (3d print) something that turns the detachable controller into a pro-style controller. This is my preferred use when I use my kids Switch's.
Also curious about using either docked as well. I ran across a Legion Go review yesterday that mentioned people have created "laptop" shells for it that have a keyboard, etc.
Still searching around for more info on that. I'm a tinkerer so those types of things intrigue me!

Yeah, if you're fine using it tabletop like a Switch, probably won't be a problem. I was using it mainly in handheld mode so that was a dealbreaker for me on an otherwise excellent device.

More like 18 gen away from 80Wh or larger battery. How long have people been screaming for bigger batteries in phones, laptops, and now handhelds? The SoC improves in performance and efficiency but a similar rate with how demanding games are getting. Battery technology isn't getting significantly more dense anytime soon, I mean LiPO4 is less dense than LIon.
edit: heh, i'm misinformed. I need a deep dive in how asus managed 80Wh in a very similar chasis size.
