fun fact: turtle rock studios also abandoned Evolve and Evolve Stage 2 (free to play attempt to revive the game on pc). With Back 4 Blood, the team stated they were prepared to support the game for many years to come beyond initial DLC pass, in an attempt to gain good faith after the trashfire that was Evolve and it's notoriously bad DLC. It worked, people bought the game (and their BS) and they abandoned B4B immediately after completing the legally obligated content in the pass.
So, that brings turtle rock studios to a perfect 3 for 3 record of abandoning their online multiplayer focused games. figured people should know turtle rock studios is known for this behavior, you should not only NOT expect any updates ever, but also you should fully expect the game to be pulled from store fronts just like Evolve was.

This game is pretty fun, levels are more open than L4D1/2, much more variety in levels / missions as well*. Not a huge player base but when you are assembling 4 person servers it does not matter much as you can always find a group and AI is decent too. For a few dollars, assuming you enjoy hoard shooters it is better in my opinion vs Aliens Fireteam or other similar (yet also uninspired) games. There is also a mild / randomized RPG element with the 'card' system....I don't care for that part honestly.

And who cares if they aren't adding content? If someone hasn't played the game for the 5 minutes (thus haven't made it through the original content)...why do they care if there isn't more on the way? L4D isn't adding stuff either

Please note: Left 4 Dead 1 or 2 is of course better but most of us want to play more than 1 game per decade so just because they are comparable doesn't mean you should exclude all similar games or they magically stop being fun.

Works perfectly on Steam Deck

I was also a big fan of L4D2, for a time it was the game I had spent the most hours playing. When I saw this game was announced, from the developers of Left 4 Dead, I was excited. People were calling it the spiritual successor to L4D2, like the closest we were going to get to L4D3. I almost pulled the trigger, until I saw this video. I recommend you check it out, it's long but worth watching. In summary, saying this game was from the creators of Left 4 Dead was disingenuous.

Also, the developer of the game has stopped producing content for it.

Now having said all that, for $6, yeah, it's probably worth it. I almost spent $40 on it years ago, heh. I'm glad I didn't.

It's worth the 6$, might not find it cheaper. It scratches the zombie itch.

I dont really understand the game hate on this, its no L4D or when it comes to PVP (not by a long shot) but as a coop, i had a blast playing this through. the graphics are great - the weapons feel good and sound right, and the zombies are definitely 'ominous', especially some of those bosses.

Coop L4D was a game of "routines" and every match felt like a speed round (We all knew each trigger point). But this feels a lot more organic, it constantly surprised us with a lot of "WTF is that....RUN!!" moments. Definitely worth that price

I went in knowing full well it wasn't L4D but I have a good time with it. I purchased the ultimate edition when it was reduced on XBOX which gave me the PC license and the console Lucense since it was a playanywhere title. It also came a while back as a PS plus essential title and included the PS5 and PS4 versions. Then Playstation put the ultimate edition on sale for $6.00 so I bought that as well for the dlc content. Best buy had the base game last year for Xbox that included a steelbook case added for $10.00 so I bought that as well. It's a good game to me for a zombie shooter with good graphics. With the extra content dlc they added it's a complete game in my opinion. It doesn't need any updates or added support. Plays just fine on my pc or consoles. It can be alot of fun especially if you play at a higher difficulty level. The characters all have their own dialogue and comments to each other. I mainly play solo so I have to rely on the AI bots but it's still an enjoyable experience. Oh and it's not Redfail..(Redfall).

You won't enjoy it if you were a big L4D fan. I bought this game and I uninstalled it the same day.

It was fun, but it's abandoned and melee builds completely break the game.

I haven't played this in a long time. I liked Left 4 Dead (&2) for the co-op campaigns, but the biggest issue with those was replayability. Once you've seen every stage 10 times, there's nothing really left to do. And it doesn't take that long to do it.

My impression of Back 4 Blood is that it's Left 4 Dead with a bunch of other stuff heaped on top, all to add replayability. Much longer campaigns, more characters, weird card system, weapon mods, etc. It also had punishing difficulty at launch, which I think was supposed to slow down your progress and stretch the game out longer, but that just felt frustrating to me. It's since been adjusted, but the group I played Left 4 Dead with still just hasn't picked this one back up much. I don't think it's bad though, worth the $6.
