Model EMEVSE1UL
  • Level 2 Charger
  • NEMA 14-50 Plug-in Connection, CCS (J1772) (adapter required for Tesla)
  • 48 AMP (but uses 40 AMP with NEMA 14-50 connection) - must have 240V 50 amp circuit
  • 24' cable
  • UL certified
  • Mobile App to monitor & schedule charging, including based on utility company TOU rates
  • White color
  • Product Spec Sheet (PDF) here [emporiaenergy.com]
  • 3 year warranty
No coupon required. Shipping is free.

Black [emporiaenergy.com] color is $329.

After reading various EV charger threads, I recently bought the new version of this charger for $399. This was the top recommended charger in this [insideevs.com] review.

I'm not sure if its worth $90 savings to get a refurbished unit. Emporia states the following:
"Refurbished Emporia Smart Home EV Chargers are rigorously tested to ensure they meet the same functional standards as new Emporia products. Your refurbished Charger comes with a special discounted price, and the same 3-year warranty as a new Charger."

Been using this for the last 2 years without any major issue. Once in a while the software is glitched. I set mine for TOU charging, to begin charging at midnight. However, every now and then, the charger will ignore that and starts charging the moment it is connected. Anybody else with this issue?

Bought a refurb a few months ago and it's been working great. Could definitely tell it was used but it's in overall good shape. Only issue was the installer PIN was set so I couldn't change the amperage to match my installation, but support was quick to reset it for me.

My experience exactly.

This deal is ok. I paid similar a few weeks back. Use code DOWNSHIFT to get 5% off. Gets the price down to $293.55

I like this charger. You can monitor stats and change amperage via the app. I don't like that it's cloud based (like everything else these days) and has no local API access.

I think this EVIQO deal is better. Practically same price for a highly rated UL Listed brand new smart EV charger.

Brand New vs Refurbished
Both highly rated smart units with similar specs. Same 3 year warranty. Both UL listed

While that price seems extreme - any clue on the reason why it costs so much? Did he have to run cables & conduit a long distance? Was it an older House so the circuit breaker needed upgrades if not an additional one? I am in the process of building a house and will pre-wire for it and of course, it'll be cheaper to do than on a finished house because of the limited obstacles in terms of walls/finish - thus the future-proofing. So it'll hopefully cost me $500-1000 in materials and labor and not much more.

Same experience here. I've had a handful of times where it does not turn off/on with the schedule. The biggest issue I've had with mine was that it missed turning on as scheduled and I had to DCFC so that I could make my return trip home. It only happened once during the daylight savings time switch so I don't know if that has something to do with it. Otherwise, it's been a very solid EVSE for the price.

EVIQO only mentions that it's "compliant with UL standards". The Emporia charger is "UL certified" and you can check the certification number E528156.

Your friend is BSing you. Would anyone in their right mind pay $15k to install a charger for a Leaf? And to trickle charge it? Why not just plug in a wall outlet for free?

Don't believe everything you hear. There are crazy people out there, but not this crazy

Would this be better or comparable with Tesla mobile charger? I have Tesla adaptor. Thanks!

I'd believe it if the $15K install included a used leaf.

Thanks for the Coupon but it does not work anymore. Any other coupon?
