5-star luxury JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa via Costco have a travel package as part of Costco's day 4 deals that include accommodation, a car rental from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, daily $100 resort credit, free parking and the mandatory daily resort fee is included. Hotel and car rental taxes are also included in quote.

I did a mock stay for the minimum 2 nights during off-peak season and my price came out to be $817 for 2-nights and an intermediate-class car rental. Doing the math for regular price, this deal is a good value if you're also needing a car rental.

I just happened to have stayed here a couple months ago. Definitely an *interesting* property and kind of odd that they call it a JW Marriott. I would absolutely not call this a 5 star resort. The deal seems fine, but just a heads up to look at photos of the property before you decide to stay here Smilie

Curious what their golf course greens fees cost. Unless you are playing when it's 110 degrees outside, most decent courses appear to cost $200+ based on the last time I was in Scottsdale. I love golf but at $3-4 per shot, I love it less and other hobbies such as hiking tend to take priority.

"$3-4 per shot"

You could always play worse to get that value up!

Haha, true.... but at that point sitting by the pool drinking $20 margaritas would make me much happier.

Ironically, last time I visited Scottsdale I flew with my clubs, only got in 1 round and played terrible. Afterwards I was so upset that I hauled those heavy clubs all the way down there to only play like garbage.

It's an unusual Marriott property but I've been here twice. I'm not a golfer and both trips were business trips so we didn't do a lot of luxury type activity. I'm heading to Phx again in mid-July (lucky me) and we may stay here again. Wife and I (she travels on many of my business trips) both found the property really nice but I agree that it's not really what we'd consider 5-star.
Really nice property, pleasant rooms, beautiful landscape, expensive, and great location.

I just stayed at this resort for my anniversary. I booked a lower tier room and was offered a Jackrabbit suite upgrade for $500 so I took it. Very large room and most importantly, a large private pool to ourselves. Beautiful views.

Do enlighten us. Real SDers undercut all the major travel sites by using sites never highlighted here. I haven't once booked Costco in 25 years of travel. Like their diamonds, people think they are getting a good deal...but aren't. I am consistently 15-35% under on flight/hotel bookings and am happy to book separately. They aren't terrible but they aren't that competitive certainly to Hawaii and Mexico.

In Scottsdale, Nordstrom has a store where all their returns go—that is Last Chance. I've been a few times. You've got to dig, and it's a total zoo, but I've walked out with $150 shoes for $20 with minimal to no wear.

You may think it's not good enough to be a JW, but that's what the brand is in North America. Obviously outside NA the brand has much higher standards. That being said, the resort is decent and I've enjoyed my stays. I'm friends with some of the Marriotts and know they used to have annual family reunions at this property for many years and Bill and Donna used to celebrate special occasions here.

As for evaluating how slick the deal is - My corporate rate is $200/nt after taxes and resort fee but doesn't include a rental (I usually pay $35/day with my rate in PHX for any Presidents Club or Emerald Aisle car) or the daily $100 credits, or parking. Depending how you value the credits and rental it could be a deal.

I travel quite a bit. Other than sites like Booking, Google, etc., what has been your experience and what sites would you recommend for saving the most on hotels worldwide?

I stayed here and played golf before COVID. It is a desert-style resort, similar to Palm Springs. It is the original Scottsdale resort built in 1936 out of real adobe bricks, so imagine how special it seemed long ago. Older and rustic by design, it was casual, quiet and well-maintained. There were two courses and we played the long and narrow one, and enjoyed it. I remember we had to drive a bit from the hotel. The spa was nice and there were many areas to sit and enjoy desert evenings with a drink. Nice for a guys or couples golf outing, as long as you get an early tee time. This is a deal when compared to other golf resorts in Phoenix and Scottsdale, but there are many newer to choose if you want modern or plush.

Great place! My wife and I used to alternate between here and Desert Ridge back when she had Platinum status and points to burn. A wonderful escape from wintertime in the Northeast.

Last Chance is a B&M store that resells items (mainly clothing and shoes) returned to Nordstrom. There are only 2 locations, one in Lombard IL and the other in Phoenix AZ. Not what it used to be but you can occasionally find some pretty good deals there.
