You need backups when you're using brand new drives, and you need backups when you're using old drives. You're gonna have backups either way if you're doing it right, and you save money if you buy cheaper, used drives. In fact, you have more money for backups if you buy cheaper drives.
I've bought from this seller on and off over the years, but I've never had to use the warranty so I can't say anything about that part of it.

I tend to look upon buying used hard drives like I would buying used bidets. It's something that may be fine but I'll just avoid it entirely
Probably going to pick up another as a cold spare to have on hand for the future.

If you are worried about data loss, then you should definitely check your math. These drives are arguably as reliable or more than new consumer drives. But, pretending that they are not, these are half the price of new consumer hard drives. 2 of these drives safeguard your data far more than one new drive. Similarly 4 is safer than 2, 6 vs 3, etc.
Every hard drive dies. Occasionally much sooner than expected.
P.S. Most people recommend buying woodworking hand planes second-hand. Not only because of the price, but because 40+ years ago they started reducing the quality. Sometimes buying a better tool second-hand is better than a lesser quality new one. Used enterprise drives vs new consumer may very well fall into the same category.
