HGST Ultrastar HC520 12TB HARD DRIVE -HUH721212ALE601 delivers the world's first hermetically sealed, helium hard drive, the Ultrastar® He10 for massive scale-out environments. Why does helium make a diference? Helium has only one-seventh the density of air. Replacing air with helium inside a hard drive dramatically reduces the turbulence caused by the spinning disks, cuts power consumption and results in a lower temperature within the disk drive.
The reduction in turbulence for the spinning disk allows WD / HGST to deliver a seven-disk design in a traditional 3.5-inch form factor. In addition to being the world's first helium-filled hard drive, HGST Ultrastar He6 is also the first hard drive in the industry to o er a 14-terabyte capacity. This design provides a 50% capacity gain and still reduces the energy needed to run the drive by up to 23%.

I've been waiting for the 16tb x20 or newer drives to come back. As far as recert/used drives go, these HGST drives just have too many years on them and are louder with frequent clacking in relation to their Seagate counterparts. I'd rather pay a bit more for a drive dated a couple years old. However, If I needed storage now I'd purchase these. Nice deal indeed for the price per TB.

There's also been Exos X24 drives 16tb for $160 that had less than a year on them last time they were in stock. Not sure if it was serverpart or goharddrive but their disclaimer said they were AWS drives.
