Amazon should give these tablets away with toilet paper purchases lol. They are not even good for aging parents. Maybe you can use it for a home automation as a display. But they are slow lol

Maybe, but the last refurb Fire I got from Woot I asked Amazon to warranty it cause the Wifi kept flaking out and they ended up giving me a newer model Fire instead, so not complaining there... Even let me keep the old one.

$30 is impulse buy territory. It's good just for widevine L1 support. It's not very fast, but acceptable. It can barely do PSP emulation. I can have $30 worth of fun with systems up to dreamcast. I like the 8" form, but if you want something bigger and faster they also have the fire HD 10 for more than double the price.

edit; Oh yeah, the 8" tablet has expandable storage and a headphone jack!

Any idea if this is better than the newer Fire 7 kids edition? I just realized I still have my kid's old 8 inch case so I can use that

Getting a new Kids Fire tablet has some advantages:

1) 1-year access to kid specific games, digital books, and videos.
2) kids case included
3) 2-year warranty

The hardware specs for a current 7in kids are the same as this model (2gb ram and 2.0Ghz quad core) but the Kids storage starts at 16gb rather than this one that has 32gb and the resolution is smaller due to the smaller screen 1024x600 vs 1280x800. Both have a microSD card slot though for future storage needs.

If you don't care about the advantages identified above at this price point it's a decent tablet to use for kids as you wouldn't have to worry too much if you lose it or if it breaks. Just my two cents. I have had the kids 7in tablet since 2020 and it works for our needs.

Fire Toolbox is by far the easiest. Can debloat pre-installed apps, change launcher and keyboard, etc. etc.

But this tablet only has 2GB of RAM. 3GB is the minimum for me. (especially if you're going to sideload Play Store)

thanks for the info + feedback, I was happy with the deal I just ordered until I was cleaning up and found a kids old 8' tablet case which is why I was considering cancelling. I think i'll stick with the 7" due to the warranty and extras! Also I noticed they only included 6 months kids freetime now but still good I guess

$30 is steep for a paperweight.
