I'm a male and I have Wells Lamont, Smith's, and Carharrt overalls, down/Sherpa insulated/lined, denim, polyester, and then Dickies polyester coveralls. Coveralls covers more, holds more body heat in by itself and if zipped down/open channels heat over stomach/chest. Whereas the overalls channels heat up around the waist and torso if not stuffed. Sometimes I prefer overalls over wearing coveralls or jumpsuits since coveralls can be more restrictive or limiting to what you can wear underneath.
I seldomly wear them, mostly in the winter or if I need to get dirty working on something away from and want to keep the vehicle clean. I also had a pair of stretch fit H&M or Forever21 denim overalls that was a gift. Not really my style even though I do wear fitted clothes when I go out. I jokingly call that tight overall the family separators since they can sometimes give a gnarly wedgie/moose knuckle.
