I bought several Martha sets several years ago from a Slickdeals post for our son's first apartment and am glad they stayed there. They were not absorbent and seemed a little thin.
I'm not a towel connoisseur but I picked up a few new white towels out of a yard sale free bin and we liked them so much I went back to the lady to find out where she bought them. They are 100% Turkish cotton from Costco and feel like expensive hotel towels. They absorb well but dry fairly quickly and I would definitely buy those again.

These manufacturers of 100% cotton towels are all making towels now with a coating that makes them feel super soft to fool you when you touch them while shopping.
They are super soft but when you use them they suck at doing their actual job buy their is a way to remove that coating and you should do it before you use or do a regular wash here is a link to a website that will tell you the process also be wary of %100 cotton towels that advertise super absorbant and moisture wickining because moisture wickining is the exact opposite of absorbtion https://shorturl.at/I56lk

They are the softest and thickest.
