These are just plain great speakers at this price point.

With the right toe in and placement they really deliver, especially paired with any decent sub to take care of the low end.

These are apparently Mk II version which are not exactly the same speakers as the original ones.

The original ones sold for as little as $250-$280 when they were being closed out a few months ago. They are $349 at Crutchfield [crutchfield.com] right now.

How is Adorama about returns? I really don't care what color they are, but the Mrs says she's not sure she will like the Walnut.

Amazing deal for the MKii which fixes the crossover dip of the original with a more complex crossover, and has better bracing.

My thoughts as well. Now I'm thinking of buying 4 of these for my 5.1 and trying to match the walnut to the center and being done with it. Hate to have multiple colors.

You can return for any reason, you just have to cover return shipping

Can they be used for karaoke?

I settled on these (version 2) for my home theater. I love them for that.

These are 2" too tall for our bookshelves. Would I be better off putting these on their sides or going with a smaller speaker?

If you're cramming them on an actual bookshelf, I wouldn't expect them to sound too good due to the port on the back

They should probably stop calling this segment of speakers bookshelf

Right, they're really standmount speakers.

I'd personally look for a front ported instead of a rear ported bookshelf speaker if your space is tight/limited behind and around the speakers on your bookshelves. If you're set on Klipsch the RP-500M II may be a better alternative from the same line. It's a somewhat smaller than the 600M and better reviewed by some online. The Klipsch has a 5.25" woofer on 500 vs 6.5" woofer on 600. I think they also both have the same tweeter but I could be wrong. If you need more low end I'd look for a nice sub to add in the future.

RP-500M II
Height: 13.56" (34.4 cm)
Width: 6.81" (17.3 cm)
Depth: 10.65" (27.0 cm)
Weight: 13.1 lb (5.95 kg)

RP-600M II
Height: 15.75" (40.0 cm)
Width: 7.95" (20.2 cm)
Depth: 13.00" (33.0 cm)
Weight: 18.1 lb (8.2 kg)
