Most of the newer sewing machine motor cars are using 0w20 or 0w16 to eek out that extra 0.1 MPG. Cars that spec'd 10w40 are getting old, and so more miles, and so... voila.

Using high mileage oil won't hurt anything in your low mileage vehicle. If anything it'll help.
