No, you can't. Unlike with music downloads, you can't actually own and transfer the content to your device. What you are buying is the only license to watch, if the studios decide to pull the license, or the provider changes something on their end, or provider goes under, then you are SOL.
It is more like the music subscription service/rent, like Tidal, Deezer, etc. Tidal recently announced it will discontinue/end some of its format support.

All digital video purchases you make on Fandango/Prime/iTunes etc unlock access for you to watch it on their apps either through their website or apps. You can also download them for offline viewing (also through website/app). You cannot download a video file that downloads to your local machine.
