Growing up in the 90s our family couldn't afford a string trimmer, they didn't have cheaper ones available like they do now. But my dad wanted the yard to look good each week, so after mowing with a push mower then had to go around the sides of the house (grass went right up to the sides, no mulch) and use clippers like these. And then also around the mailbox, etc. Then had to sweep the grass off the sidewalk and from out in front on the street, using a whisk broom.

My dad used to say he wished we could afford a trimmer and blower, but that's what he had me and my brother for.

So do people actually get out there and cut their grass with scissors or are y'all using these for something else?

Cool tool, but no way I'm cutting any amount of grass by hand. It's just not that serious.. if you missed a spot, get it next week, it'll be ok.

Why can't you just use regular scissors to cut the longer grass you need to?

I have never cut our grass, nor do I ever intend to, but I was thinking this might be helpful trimming around gravestones because the cemetery mowers can't get close when there are flower vases present and these can cut at an angle. Usually I just pull it up by hand but it does look a little ragged. However after reading some of the reviews, I might continue pulling or using my trusty Lowe's utility scissors.

You can always use regular scissors that are sharp to cut the longer grass around the edges of the headstone. I use an old pruning shears from Fiskars to cut the around the flat headstone. Something like this but the one I got is an older version.

i have these and love these. best place to use them for edging around stuff you don't want to accidentally hit with a weedeater. we have some flowers/plants in the yard with no border or mulch, so i'll use these to thing the grass i cant get with the weedeater. also have used it against a garden box that has a slight hill against it. hard to get the grass w weedeater without digging into base of 'hill'... it has its uses. also super calming to use lol

True, but your link is $16 vs $9 for this deal 🙂.

I actually have a smaller pair of those Fiskars for cutting & deadheading flowers so maybe will give them a try. They would take a little more time due to their size.

I bought the 2 pack Lowe's utility scissors when they were $6 clearance and love & use them for everything, but the blades are a bit thick for this application. My family's stones are granite and upright. The bases are "dimpled" as they are unpolished, so not a straight line.

I don't want to give the false impression that I'm any kind of gardener or lawn care aficionado.

I just like nice tools/scissors.
