I'd pass on the hoses hideaway and opt for something that doesn't have a lid, because wasps like to build nests under that lid.

I haven't had issues with critters in my hose hideaway, but for those who do, there's also a hose hanger on sale.

The handle is very finicky mostly because it is rather small to hold , if you apply enough force your hand will slip out and you'll hit something . Of course it should not require much force , but once the hose is almost coiled up, it gets heavier to turn .

Going to give the hideaway a shot. Wife says it is impossible to just roll the hose up in a pile and insist it will be put away if it is on a spool. Time to see.

To put less strain on the handle or hose retainer, I always unwind before turning on the water and shut off water before reeling in the hose.
