$170 is 44.5% of this deal…not insignificant

It's a relative thing. If one is thinking that the screen can be better that takes away from the experience. But if one never even had a handheld, the experience is awesome. I'm still in awe at the LCD, so OLED will always be there as something to look forward to and available if I decide I want more. But I'm honestly happy with the LCD and haven't lost that feeling of satisfaction. One of the secrets of staying happy as a SD'er is being happy with less, as constantly desiring more ends following the law of diminishing return as far as our complacency.

Great deal! Affordable and great portable console. Wish soon will see the same price for Rog Ally Z1 Extreme.

It's super easy. You replace the existing 64 with a new 2230 nvme (double check me on the size). Valve has their own doc on how to reflash the OS. There are several videos on replacing the drive. I used a slower USB drive which was the biggest issue but still worked well after some time. Good luck!
Oh, is the 64gb a nvme drive? I thought it was built in and non-removeable...

Not a linux user, but if I buy the 64gb one:

1. How would I transfer the SteamOs to a new nvme drive?
2. Does the 64gb built in memory just show as another drive?
There are some great YT "how-to" videos on what the process is. There's a couple methods, so you'd have to decide which is your preference. The 64 eMMC is a card, so you'd just swap for an NVMe drive. Also some nice walk-through videos for that too. 👍

The Summer Sale is in a few days, maybe the OLED will be on sale then? I doubt it would be more than a $50 discount though

It's an emmc drive. Same connector. I should prob know the terms but it has been a bit since I've assembled a PC. I got the 1 TB Corsair MP600 on Amazon, and it's been working great. Thought I messed up the OS port but I realized I stupidly used a USB 2.0 stick and it took several hours but eventually worked.

I might have gone the OLED (for the GPU and extra battery life) but generally still very happy with the base model + custom SSD.

Any insight as to how this would run a game like Apex Legends while docked to a monitor?

well it runs things (maybe not the most cutting edge releases but pretty recent) pretty good on the internal lcd but that's around 720p resolution

Are you playing D4 purchased on steam? I have it on game pass, I'd feel like an idiot paying for it twice.
Yeah I have the steam version.

Thinking about getting this to play D4 casually, will I regret it...? (I don't have other gaming console or gaming PC, besides Switch)
I play D4 on the Deck regularly. Been running my Minion Necro build for Season 4, it runs pretty smoothly.

It's not just an LCD vs OLED thing, the LCD is objectively not good -- only covers about 70% of sRGB as you would often find on the screen of a budget laptop, which means that colors are washed out. It is a noticeable difference if you put it next to almost any smart phone, iPad or Macbook (including those use LCD screens).

But I agree it could be a personal thing -- lots of people can't tell that the colors are bad, and they don't mind.
