Finding deals on Slickdeals is also a first world problem that you clearly partake in. Or do you only keep an eye out for necessities? If you feel that strongly, you should send a letter to your congressperson instead of whining to us. Many of us are gonna heat our garages one way or another. It's work space 20% of the day for me. And the emissions produced either from gas or electric pales in comparison (cheaper, too) to my friends who remote start their f150 3 times in the morning to heat their trucks up. If the end goal is to reduce emissions, than I don't see why it wouldn't be reasonable to be rebatable. The point of the rebate, at least originally, wasn't for the poor, it was to reduce emissions.

I was looking at this last week and it only qualifies for the tax credit in southern states. It doesn't meet the HSPF2 rating of greater than or equal to 9.5 for northern states. Home depot description states this one is at 9.

I mean it's more efficient than setting up resistive heaters or butane / propane garage heaters for the winter. Lots of people set up mini splits for garage / shop/ shed etc so they can be used year round as extra space. Definitely a first world problem that you don't have enough heating / cooling for your space however haha

Something about OP wanting to air condition a 3-car garage, and there being tax rebates for this, really saddens me. Looks like a nice A/C though.

Putting an AC/heater in a garage is definitely a 'first world problem' that the government should not be subsidizing with our taxpayer dollars.

At this price just get a daikin. You'll get better service in case you end up needing parts replaced in the future.

I bought this for around 1300 2 years ago. When I installed it it was empty of Freon. I read the reviews on HD and many people complained about similar deals and having problems with warranty. I went ahead and called an ac guy first and he found an unfinished weld at the compressor. After he repaired for 450, the warranty company said they were only reimbursing 300 and that I should have called them first and they would have sent me another unit.

You live and you learn, but if you buy it and it's empty, stop and contact warranty. My buddies have the same one with no issues.

I use mine in a 20x30x9 spray foam insulated shop and it does pretty good in Texas. If you let it run over night it'll freeze you out.

I have a WYT 24k btu/hr in a garage and it's been going strong for coming up on third year. Use it for AC only. Based on what I interpolated/calculated for my area (for a WYT, OP is WYS which might be better), this is only potentially cheaper than gas heating at only > 50 deg F. If I remember right, thermally, you'd need the heat pump >3-4x efficient than 95% natural gas combustion (my boiler), as electricity is 3-4x more expensive per unit of energy. Note that thermal efficiency on a heat pump can potentially do this as it moves heat versus creates heat, but that was only a possibility in my case >50 deg F. This will be more efficient than resistive electric to a temperature lower than that, but efficiency drops rapidly with temperature. Somerset, WI

I spend hours a day in my garage (wood/metal shop/car work)...probably more than most folks spend awake at home. I heat with propane, and would love something more efficient.

How fortuitous to find this deal.

I'm buying a condo that's roughly 600 sq ft and I need to replace the old central air. Will this be good for a 1br condo and will I need 2 of them? And yes I'll be hiring someone to install it.

Also, I plan to have a combined furnace so will this work for that?

Assume much? My 3 car garage is dedicated to my gym.
