Yes. I've had this Bosch 800 series model (an earlier version but essentially the exact same dishwasher) for 8 years and it is hands down the best dishwasher I've ever owned (and I'm 60). I loved it from the day I got it and as a bonus it's been reliable and looks and performs like new 8 years later. I like the top-control version because over time, external controls will show wear long before the dishwasher dies. You sacrifice external displays showing how long the cycle has left, but the look is clean and there's a little light at the floor that shows you it's running.Bosch 500 and 800 series dishwashers all have the same guts. The differences are in the controls, design, racks, and cycles. It's nearly impossible to sort out all the models, but what most people don't realize is that no matter what model you get, you can customize your Bosch dishwasher using some codes in the manual. For example if you want less energy efficiency and more drying (like an American dishwasher), you can configure that after the dishwasher is installed. I love Costco for appliances and here's what you need to know: The contractors will do what you ask them to do. Otherwise they may do the minimum. I've had appliances like washers and dryers and dishwashers delivered and they set it up and start a cycle to show it's working, then are ready to leave. But I always ask:"After you haul away this one, can you give me a few minutes to clean behind it?"
"Oh, sure. We'll wait."
After it's installed, "Did you level the appliance? I have a bubble level here if you'd like to use it."
"Oh, sure, we'd be happy to do that." And they take a few minutes and do it."Did you hook up the steam function? This washer has a steam function."
"Oh, you want that? Sure. We can get a steam kit from the truck." And they do. No charge. They are always nice and willing and never charge extra for whatever hardware is needed. But you have to watch what they're doing and ask.

"Basic" installation, they will hook up the drain hose and connect the power. They will not drill or do anything which requires "additional services". Source - I've used Costco for a dishwasher in the past and most recently a all-in-one washer/dryer combo for my rental. Thank you.

I just had this dishwasher installed by a Costco contractor with haul away of my previous GE dishwasher. I saw a lot of negative reviews about installers on Costco's website, but my installers were very communicative, wore shoe covers, made sure nothing ever dragged on my hardwood floors, they expanded the hole in my cabinet to fit the drain hose, and they installed the Bosch junction kit I bought since my previous dishwasher was hardwired, all without trying to get any more money out of me.

You joke, but that is by a decent margin the best deal you're going to get on an excellent dishwasher if you can find a friend to go in with you. You'd each save $250 over the otherwise typically best price.

Any type of installation or just the standard installation? I bought series 500 from lowes and they charged me 159 for installation but on the day of installation technician asked $265 more as he said this isn't standard installation. I.e. my existing dishwasher is not exactly next to basin (approximately 5 ft away from basin).

I'd go standard and see what happens when they arrive. As I explained here, I've never had an appliance installer sent by Costco who didn't do what I asked them to do.

I'm sure you gave them a tip for going above and beyond! Most SD users probably wouldn't…..

Because the local installers are independent and do not work exclusively for Costco, they will somewhat hit and miss. Thanks for sharing though, because when people care enough to post a review or whatever, it's usually just the negative experiences that make them want to vent, rather than the positive ones which are easy to move on from and forget.

Most of us buying a dishwasher will have an existing one to replace, so a majority of installs are simple and very routine for anyone who has done a few. I've done enough DIY work that I'm completely confident I can swap in a new dishwasher myself, although the old one is 30+ years old (thanks Kitchenaid) and if I can buy from Costco and get someone else to do it for at least as good of a price as HD, Lowe's or Best Buy, why not?

Been looking at units in the $700-$900 or so range, but I *almost* have myself convinced that I won't regret paying more for this one since it rates about as well as anything at any price.

I'm looking at the options for a fridge and this. Old house, with some egregious space limitations (an interior door that's a hair shy of 30" wide, a cabinet that's exactly 34" clearance due to a granite counter cutting into the fridge space... so there aren't a lot of choices that fit. But if I can make it work, I'll be getting both, and possibly looking for one more item to throw it over the next discount threshold.

Is this one of the better models that gets of hype?
Yes, and yes - if you see a comparison anywhere, this is probably one of the top models on the list, at any price. I haven't tried it personally, but it's the one I keep looking at an saying, "Well, if I just spend a little more I'm sure I won't need or want to replace it for a long time." It seems like they do just about everything well, they're very quiet, and this is known to be a reliable brand and model. This is about at the point where it makes little sense to spend more on anything any fancier - rapidly diminishing returns if you go "nicer," and no one seems to want to upgrade after using it.

I feel that pain. My house is from the early 60's and is built to a much better standard than my last one (from 1900 and added onto redneck DIY-style, and nothing was straight, flat, plumb or normal), but I'm somewhat space-limited. The shallow cabinet that never gets used above the fridge is only 68.5" off the floor and the refrigerators I've been looking at are 68.75" high at the back, or a hair more - so close, but maybe not close enough.

My dishwasher install should be trivial but the old unit is 30+ years old and hard-wired. Been looking at stoves, too, to replace an old Caloric slide-in gas range that has been very nice. I'm looking at a large solar panel setup and would like to go electric but can't do that until I run a line for it, which will require a new breaker panel because the old one is full and from the 60's. I'm trying not to shell out $50k all at once for solar power and new appliances (gas water heater, furnace, dryer, stove currently) but that might be the easiest route. Some of these Costco deals are just hard to pass on, right?

The profit margin on dishwashers, especially Bosch, must be insane. Just look at the build quality. Makes no sense.

I'd totally consider if there was a way to add 2 to 2 diff addresses for the install at each home. Then I could get my parents one too.

I got this 800 series Bosch at a new house. Surprisingly I prefer the base model 100 series Bosch dishwasher (previous house) over this one.

If you are the least bit handy - this isn't that hard of an install. you can likely do that prep work so that all they have to do is run the line through.
Thank you

The installers are great but I just had a problem with them lying to the building manager. I'm sure if they have to do extra work they will do it but they will charge you for it.
