Daily deposit to the compost heap …. no extra freezer space here.

Temporary… when the bag is full, take it out to the compost…

What's the environmental cost of the ziploc bags?

It requires 2.2 billion pounds of fossil fuel and 3.9 billion gallons of fresh water to produce the 100 billion plastic bags the US consumes each year. The manufacturing of plastic bags produces a billion pounds of solid waste and 2.7 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2)per year.

Charcoal filters seem pretty overkill. I empty my plastic flip top counter bin every 3 days or so and it only smells a little bit when I open it, never when it's closed.

Still seems pricey for a simple bucket and lid. I use an empty ground coffee container, with a lid. Already paid for it, might as well reuse it. Besides, nothing is going to "compost" in one of these little things anyway, these are just a container to transport the scraps, so use whatever you have as long as you also have a lid. Or buy this, makes no difference to me
one way or the other.

The scraps actually decompose faster when you do this because it starts breaking them down by freezing them so it's a win-win
