The Blink UI is so bad. When you get a notification and try to open it, it says the camera is in use and won't let you see what's going on. You have to restart the app and half the time it still says in use. By the time you can actually see the live view, whoever was there is gone.

Blink doorbell is comically bad. I have many blink cameras and none of them work as poorly as the doorbell. I have a nest doorbell and I was hoping to replace it to have a single blink subscription. The blink doorbell disconnected or failed to notify so often I uninstalled it and sent it back. Just not a functional piece of hardware. Buy something that works. It's worth the extra money.

Good price, I can't get past not being able to use rechargeable batteries, seems like a waste. Why lithium only which are pricey and may not last long?

Highly recommend this solar bit if you have a doorbell in the sun. I have this and the Sync module and get free infinite recording.

As far as I can tell there's nothing stopping you from putting in rechargeable AA 1.5v battery.

I have to agree with this. Please stay away from the Blink Doorbell. I have constant false notifications from it and the system has some sort of bug where it will either give no notifications or too many triggers, no setting in between. Also, even if it is wired and showing that it is on external power, it still uses and requires battery... Bad engineering design altogether.

Mine works perfectly no issues for over a year now. I'm using the free service with local recording to hard drive and it serves its purpose well. For the price it's a great entry level option.

I did the exact same thing. Going back to my Nest. The Blink doorbell is bad. Odd because the Blink cameras work well. The doorbell not so much. I didn't do my homework as I assumed if I wired the Blink doorbelI I would not need to rely on the batteries. That's on me.
It's too bad because I was an early adopter in Blink so I don't pay for a subscription.

I am going to try these out. I just sold me home that had wired nest doorbell and outdoor camera that we liked. But this is too cheap to not try. I tried to order 2 sets of these and it wouldn't let me on a single order. But it let me on 2 single orders. Hope they don't cancel the second one. It didn't give a delivery date yet (I wonder if they are on back order)

Just going by what the blink faq says, I figure that's how Amazon gets you. It's cheap and no subscription, but you gotta buy expensive disposable batteries every month.

You should not use rechargeable batteries with your doorbell. Use one pair of non-rechargeable, Lithium Metal, size AA, 1.5v batteries. Visit Amazon.com for recommended batteries. https://support.blinkforhome.com/...orbell-faq

Anyone figured out how to swap out for a wired doorbell and get the same bundle price?

NM. The door chime comes for wired or battery powered…

I gave Blink up as a primary video camera/security camera. I got tired of the long-loading live feed. My biggest gripe was the video quality. I had no clue how hazy it was compared to others. I had someone attempt to break into my car, but the picture was so bad I couldn't make the person out. But the last straw was when the person didn't hear me yelling through the camera . There was also issues with alerts, but maybe that was the position of the camera as my backdoor camera works just fine. I still have them but in the back of the house.

Reduce the clip size. Default is 10s.

That's true because most mainstream rechargeable batteries have 1.2v output, but you can still buy 1.5v rechargeable lithium batteries.
