Folding phones have the lowest residual value. Someone posted some research on Reddit about this. They lose like 50% in the first year.

The biggest upgrade is that the name is 6 instead of 5.

$1500 trade in sounds like a guarantee that this phone will be $1999

It is a just few hairs wider. All dimensions are known already. The squared corners will make it look wider than what it is. Suppose it's similar comparing fold3 to fold4. I love Samsung, but they've become as bad as Apple. I don't have loyalty to companies. I'll criticize all which deserve so.

I'll give it a try ONLY if the freebies are generous. Easy enough to sell it in the first month.

Some love it. I'm just saying don't expect big external screen changes vs fold5

for reference s24u is 79mm. Pixel 8 pro is 76.5
Wow so all of the original leaks were wrong? That's crazy

To add I just dont see the hype at all. I can tell you when smartphones started I understood the a regular size smart phone to a phablet, but thats about it.

Given the way Samsung service is getting worse, I am now averse to buying anything Samsung.

Yea, I used the Fold4 for a few months before reselling back when the deals were still smoking hot and you could make bank of reselling (still have a few extra buds2/pro).

I've grown accustomed to using one hand with a phone and it's rare that I'd care to open up something larger than the s23U for additional space. I also have an s9+ tablet which I rarely use - kids use it more often for drawing.

I think it's clear someone else took over pricing at Samsung last year after the insane deals the prior 2 years where you could easily flip the ultras, flips, and folds for big profits thanks to the trade-in and combo offers. I can't fathom it was a company strategy to buy market share. I think they overcorrected a bit too much and need to meet in the middle to increase sales a bit more. $450 for a 1 year upgrade on a $1,200 phone (S23U -> S24U) is too steep from functionality standpoint.

Just bought s9 ultra trading in s8 ultra. Not sure if they will be releasing s10 ultra with ground breaking trade in deals and additional credits 🤞

After the dumpster fire that was the s24, as a long time Samsung fan I'm never buying another phone of theirs at launch again. The display issues on that thing--which were never resolved or even acknowledged by samsung--were a sign that they are not a serious company any longer.

I'm going to be leaving Apple so If that means $500 to try out a fold phone I'll give it a shot and if I hate it sell it and get ultra 24.
My A10e and A51 both got laggy after installing android updates. Eventually, I had to do a factory reset to get them snappy again. However, my iPhone X after 4 IOS updates and no factory resets continues to be snappy. I don't know if the android updates are just horribly optimized for Samsung but it is annoying that after every Android OS update I have to do a factory reset.

Lol, 1500 trade in will be an apple device probably not a Samsung and it'll prob be 2 iPhone 15 pro maxs for that trade in value. I'll be in the list hoping for good trade in values but doubt it highly.

S21U and S23U were great phones. Felt like S22U had issues (lag/warm) iirc and I never had the S24U. I guess steer clear of even number year models.

Yup. Had to gift my s23 ultra, and have s24 ultra now. Besides the anti glare screen which is truly fantastic, everything was either same or better (camera) on s23 ultra. Thankfully it's holding value OK and will be getting rid of it by summer.

just because the cameras look unchanged doesn't mean they are, right? right? right?
Actually the s24 and s23u difference was largely just software decisions

The $1500 is probably for a MacBook trade

"Promotional discount applies while supplies last when making your first qualifying purchase in the Shop Samsung App ($500 first order minimum)." If this holds true then this discount is nothing special and just aimed at suckers to lure their info out so they can send email junk and promos to them.

The fold already costs nearly $2000 so an ultra version of that would be insane.

Not true. The 10x lens was replaced by a 5x lens - pretty significant.
