Just want to point out for those debating saws purely on the legnth of the Bar that the DeWalt line of chain saws use standard Bars and chains. If you have an 16" and also have a 18" or even 20" from another chainsaw you can within a minute swap it over to your dealt saw.
I have the 16" version. I can say this is just as good or better than a 2-stroke. Especially if you are a DIYer. I don't use my chainsaw enough to make sure it's always tuned up. I can slap a battery in this a year from now and it will run just as well. Highly recommended
Lol are you comparing a $2k+ gas chainsaw to a $200-$500 range line of battery powered saws? These electric saws are not meant to replace our gas powered heavy duty Stihls for all day/every day use in logging, they still have their place. My point was that already having a 12" 20v for limbing a tree or two, a 16" is useless, would want an 18"-20" for cutting trunk as a companion. You're trying to compare apples to asteroids 🤣

The other deal was $299 for the 18" bar + battery. In my case I have a bunch of flexvolt batteries so this is a much better deal for me

Having about 8 chargers, 12 batteries and already have the 12" 20v chainsaw, I have absolutely zero interest in the 16" with extra stuff. The 18" bare is WAY better for me (and many that haven't needed batteries for years as we've accumulated tons over the years with our 20+ DeWalt tools) "way better deal" for you couldn't be further from the truth for deeply invested owners. I'm actually waiting for a killer deal (BARE) on the 20" but I'm millimeters from pulling the trigger on this 18" as it is, in fact, a great deal despite your opinion on the weird middle ground, borderline useless sized 16" saw🤔(sidenote CCC shows this is the lowest price ever by $20)

Too bad this didn't pop up a couple weeks earlier. I just paid $320 for this and a 9ah battery.

I bought this saw as part of a deal with 9aH batteries last year from Home Depot and it's an amazing saw. It chews through big ass logs no problem. This is my go-to for cutting bigger material wood for the wood stove. If you're debating and need a bigger saw, just get it, especially at this price. It's so worth it.

I will never buy an electric chainsaw again. I bought the small dewalt a few years ago and it stripped all the gears internally. It also leaked bar oil all the damn time unless it was stored at a particular angle. Went down and bought an entry level stihl gas saw for less than $200 and it will probably last me my lifetime and is much more capable.
Just curious, how often were you using it? I have one of the smallest dewalt saws they call a "lopper" and I primarily use it for trimming bushes and small trees and it's been a beast for that purpose for about 6 years now. Regular cleaning and line/oil obviously. What were you using your small dewalt for?

You can't cut a trunk with a 16" blade????? Like I said…you obviously don't have a ton of experience by that statement alone….you can easily take down a tree with a 28" trunk…and even doing that begs the question, why are you using an electric saw….theres a time and a place….
