Just want to point out for those debating saws purely on the legnth of the Bar that the DeWalt line of chain saws use standard Bars and chains. If you have an 16" and also have a 18" or even 20" from another chainsaw you can within a minute swap it over to your dealt saw.
I have the 16" version. I can say this is just as good or better than a 2-stroke. Especially if you are a DIYer. I don't use my chainsaw enough to make sure it's always tuned up. I can slap a battery in this a year from now and it will run just as well. Highly recommended
Lol are you comparing a $2k+ gas chainsaw to a $200-$500 range line of battery powered saws? These electric saws are not meant to replace our gas powered heavy duty Stihls for all day/every day use in logging, they still have their place. My point was that already having a 12" 20v for limbing a tree or two, a 16" is useless, would want an 18"-20" for cutting trunk as a companion. You're trying to compare apples to asteroids 🤣

Bought this saw, returned it. Normally I'm pretty happy with Dewalt but I had severe battery overheating problems using this saw to work on some larger felled trees. Once the battery was overheated, it was out of commission for way too long. Ultimately I found that the Ego saws and especially batteries did a lot better with heat management under significant load.

How would this compare to the Greenworks 80V [Greenworks 80V 18" Brushless Cordless Chainsaw], also available on Amazon? I have a GW 80V lawn mower, so don't have to worry about buying a battery for the GW.

I will never buy an electric chainsaw again. I bought the small dewalt a few years ago and it stripped all the gears internally. It also leaked bar oil all the damn time unless it was stored at a particular angle. Went down and bought an entry level stihl gas saw for less than $200 and it will probably last me my lifetime and is much more capable.
I wish you the best of safety and success with the low cost stihl.
Stripped gear is a symptom of loose chain. No accusing. I have makita 16 corded and 14 battery and both gears Stripped after occasional use over 4-5 years. Part of the maintenance, I purport. Loose chain on a gas saw is definitely more fun... when it pops.

Only if I didn't have the 20" chainsaw already. Can't think of a reason to justify this as well but I trying to lol
Same here! I'm 50/50 right now. I can go either way. Probably 55/45 for buying.
It's getting expensive saving money!

I have the 18" and it works very well. Much more convent and a lot less noisy than my old 2 stroke.

One note for those looking at the 16" and below. The 18" has metal bucking spikes, the 16" and below don't. Probably not a big deal to most, but that is an improvement in the 18"+.

So…

Not 200$ as originally stated.
Not 2 batteries as originally stated.
Not 12Ah 60V as originally stated.

Well posted Internet forum guy.
