how many internal drives do you usually install on your machine? You can always just velcro a couple of 2.5's atop the powersupply shroud if you want more, but how many SATA ports does your motherboard have that you can use?

With so many motherboards having multiple NVMe slots, and with multi-terabyte NVMes becoming affordable, it's not uncommon IMO for a gaming build to forgo any type of SATA drive whatsoever. Taking SATA drives out of the equation also eliminates drive cable management.
"Legacy" cases tend to have more HDD storage; back when multi-TB hard drives were relatively more expensive, I would add TBs of storage a drive at a time, as my budget allowed. My first "server" (WHS, 2011 and earlier version) consisted of multiple 1TB drives that I added as I could afford them - the Antec 300 was popular back then, with 6 3.5" bays available and fan locations all over it.
Here's a PCPartPicker link with cases filtered by 6 3.5" drive bays or more, sorted from low to high price. The cheapest Cooler Master is more expensive that the case in this deal, but IMO more suitable to the task. I adjusted the filter down to 4 from 6, but the cases that can hold 4 drives tend to have them in clever spots all over the case, which would require significant disassembly to add/swap drives, unlike the 6 bay cases which tend to stack all the drives vertically in the front of the case for easy access.

Good luck with your build!
It socks air from top of psu w the fan then blows it out from the rear.
