Lots of people use it for chili and such. It's not something you'd put on top of anything, you mix it into a large batch while it's cooking.
I use liquid smoke on oven baked ribs and baked beans, add it to your BBQ sauce for extra smokie flavor, so good.
Nothing fake about it. It's literally made [thespruceeats.com] by burning wood and condensing the smoke into a liquid form. It's the exact same flavor compounds you'd get if you smoked at home.

Saying it's fake is like claiming canned tomatoes are fake, or that bacon is fake because you didn't raise and slaughter the pig yourself. LOL!

Add to mac n' cheese. Gives it a smoked cheese flavor.
Add a very little bit in your water for ice then use for smokey cocktails.
Add too hotdogs/sausages/hamburger to give them a cookout taste.
Use w/ a dehydrator for jerky, and snacks.
Basically anything you'd use a smoker for, but don't want to wait hours for.

It's been at this price for sometime now. I don't know if it's this brand or the type of wood smoke favor. I find that mesquite retains the smoke flavor much better than hickory when using it in slow cooker. I even added the liquid towards the end of cooking and still felt it lacked that smoky flavor.

I often pan-fry or bake fish with just salt + Wright's liquid smoke. My family loves it.

gives me indigestion like you wouldn't believe tho
I'm not sure "fake" is the accurate. It's condensed smoke, i.e. smoke, literally, in liquid state. It's not like artificial smoke flavor. UPDATE: Er... at least that's what I thought based on liquid smoke by Wright's. This one looks like it has vinegar, sugar, salt and other seasoning added too. I think I might cancel my order.

I don't use it anymore, b/c I'm fortunate enough to have a house with a back deck and a smoker these days. But for years I lived in a condo where smoking meat wasn't feasible. So I used sous vide [seriouseats.com]and a little liquid smoke, and the results were pretty awesome.

Can I do better now with real wood in a real smoker? Yes. Was my fake Sous vide-cue damn good, and better than at least half the barbecue joints I've tried? Also, yes. (And I live in BBQ country,)

This may not be for you, but it has it place. And no one likes a snob (especially an ignorant one).

That's an interesting idea! Have you tried it? I'm a little skeptical to be honest, but I'm gonna give it a go!

There's nothing phoney about it. It's natural smoke , cooled into a liquid. It has tons of uses for home sauces, chili, jerky , roasts, bbq.

Home cooks need to use all the available ingredients and trust me restaurants definitely use it.
