Are these really heavy duty ? I have 2 Costco heavy duty lifetime warranty 100 ft burst under the hot sun in the last 6 months. Meanwhile, those Sears black rubber one I got like 10 years ago still holding strong.

Beware of the aluminum coupling cold welding to your brass hose bib and unfortunately they aren't the only hose manufacturer pulling this bullshit lately. Their ad copy says brass female coupling, but product photo and customer reviews with photos would indicate otherwise.

Yep. Those were good times. Sears points mania let me score so many craftsman tools / hoses. I've had a hose in my MN backyard for almost 10 years. It still works like new (more grey than black now, though).

Thanks OP! Repped.
My Costco's 100-ft bought last summer has already started to leak, at least three places!
Hope this one lasts longer.

I have a 50ft and a 100ft rubber hose from over a decade ago still working like new after many winters and summers.

Can we buy these anymore? Anyone have a link to the OG rubber hoses that apparently are indestructible?

I have two 50ft black rubber Craftsman hoses from Sears too, still going strong after 10 years.

Only the threads are brass - you can see it in the product images. Seems like a recipe for leaks eventually.

Honestly no. They're made of Vinyl. If you want heavy duty, you need them to be made of rubber.

Yep. Cold welding is no joke if you live in a cold climate like New England. My wife bought two of these aluminum couple hoses and they completely required replacement of our hose bibs. Insist on solid brass couplings.

Not sure about OG but I think one of the better regarded modern hoses is continental rubber. I wasn't able to spend the $ , persoanlly

These are way better built than the Craftsman hoses that so many people think are the best:

Agreed that ag supply stores seem the way to go. I have 2 of the Craftsman hoses as well, also still going strong. I was in a Big R in Colorado recently and saw these, definitely reminded me of the older Craftsman hoses:

Also looks like ag stores also carry Apache but seems a bit on the expensive side (at least locally)

A lot of the money is in the fittings. I was so dissatisfied with hoses available that I looked at buying a roll of Continental hose and fittings with a crimping press. A good set of brass or stainless steel fittings costs over $20, so any hose selling for around $40 is inherently inferior as there has to he some margin for the person selling them.

The Apache fittings are heavier than anything I've seen. Not a granny's watering hose, but excellent lay in the yard/field for years hoses.
