Steve Koecher missing since 12/13/09! The family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the resolution of the case.

His car was found abandoned in Henderson, NV at a 55 and over community, it had been there over 4 days.

Residents called the police when the car had been there for so long.

We have a rental house about 2 hours from Henderson & Steve has lived there for about a year.

I hope he is okay! It seems unreal that he is really missing.

Here is a link to his facebook with his pic. If anyone has any information please call.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Koecher to contact the St. George Police Department at 627-4300 or the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at (702) 229-2907.

He has been on the news in Vegas and St. George. There are putting his pic on milk cartons sometime soon.

I'm sorry I haven't been posting replies. I'll try to get some in today.

I've never heard of the portfolio. Off the cuff I would say it was a resume. These links have been on the news so I feel ok posting them here. One of the white cars driving by is Steven's, then you see him walking down the street.

I'm not sure where you all would dig, but you're the pros. Could you all look at craigs list or something and see if there's anything, job wise, that would appeal to Steven in the area of Henderson in the time range of November and the beginning of December? He's a communications major and has worked in the newspaper business. I don't think he would look for further work in window washing. I think that's just something to pay the bills, but anything is possible.

Steve Koecher

The last time the neighbors saw Steve was 10:30 pm Saturday night (12/11/09). John across the street said saw Steve & his car there for about 20 or 30 min and he was gone by 10:30 pm.

Sunday morning (12/13/09) a friend from his church ward called him and ask if he could teach a lesson that day.

Steve answered and said that he was in Vegas but he could come back and teach if they couldn't find any one else.

That was the last time anyone heard from him or saw him.

On Thursday the Henderson police called Steve's parents because his car had been at a 55 and older community, since Sun, abandoned.

His parents filed missing persons on Friday and hired a PI.

Interesting, he parked the car and walked away from it.

ST. GEORGE — The St. George Police Department is calling upon the community for information about Steven T. Koecher, a 30-year-old St. George man who has been reported missing in the Las Vegas and Henderson, Nev. area.

Lt. James Van Fleet of the St. George Police Department said nobody has heard from Koecher since Dec. 13. Henderson police found his vehicle abandoned Dec. 15 in the Sun City Anthem area of Henderson, a residential community.

A man matching Koecher's description was seen in footage recorded from a nearby outdoor video surveillance system, Van Fleet said, but Koecher has not been seen since Dec. 13.

Van Fleet said police are unsure of Koecher's reason for traveling to southern Nevada, but he said he hopes residents can provide additional information.

"We don't know what his intent was when he went down there," he said.

"We're just trying to see if there is anybody locally who can help put the pieces of the puzzle together."

Koecher is believed to be a single man with no close relatives in the St. George area, Van Fleet added.

Koecher is described by police as 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He is a white male with blue eyes and
blond hair.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Koecher to contact the St. George Police Department at 627-4300 or the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at (702) 229-2907.

Scratchchin How do you normally leave a car? I guess I don't see why it's interesting that he parked the car and walked away from it. Don't we all do that when we leave our cars? Or am I missing something?

He doesn't live in that town and he parked the car in a senior community, where people under 55 aren't allowed to stay/live. He doesn't know anyone who lives there and he never returned to the car. He also hasn't used his phone, credit cards, bank account or contacted anyone since 8 days ago when he parked the car at the senior housing community and walked off.

And I meant it was interesting that he parked it there, rather than it was stolen and abandoned there.

I guess I assumed that it was obvious when they found his car that he had walked off. If someone had parked it for him, then I would think it was interesting because it'd be obvious something was off. I don't know. I guess I'm not getting what's so interesting about him walking off. laugh out loud I must be tired and missing something.

Just read your edit. Yeah, I guess that's kind of weird. It makes it seem like he was parking in a place where cars are expected to stay all day/night (as opposed to a store's parking lot). Also, it wouldn't be reported as quickly because so many different cars come and go at a place like that. (I know in my apartments, I would never be able to tell you which cars are new to the area and which aren't.)

It does sound like this is something he planned. Hopefully he's found safe and sound, but it doesn't sound like he wants to be found at all.

I was worried he had met with foul play, but it sounds like he could have left on his own accord. People do just pick up and leave sometimes, like Nicholas Francisco, Matthew Wilson (Rice University student) and Jennifer Wilbanks (runaway bride)..

Seems like he might have just up & left.. but that wasn't my initial theory. Way too many missing persons cases turn out to be homicides. Frown

John the next door neighbor just called DH and said Steve was at the house!! We are staying there for the holidays but at Grandma's right now so DH zoomed back over to our house but it wasn't Steve. It was his dad and brother, a couple cops detectives.

He is still missing. Frown

His trail is cold. The dad and brother are heading back home, a four hour drive, for Christmas eve.

They do suspect foul play. Someone used his phone to call a ATT voicemail retrieval to get messages, probably not his messages because usually it shows that you called your own phone number if your getting your own messages but it shows the call was entered as a generic voicemail retrieval number . That was on Monday 12/14/09. Now his phone is dead.

Here is a link to his facebook and picture. If anyone has any info please call the number a few posts up.

Finally! I'm sitting here with family and keep thinking about Steve's family. I know they are worried sick about him.
