His car was found abandoned in Henderson, NV at a 55 and over community, it had been there over 4 days.
Residents called the police when the car had been there for so long.
We have a rental house about 2 hours from Henderson & Steve has lived there for about a year.
I hope he is okay! It seems unreal that he is really missing.
Here is a link to his facebook with his pic. If anyone has any information please call.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Koecher to contact the St. George Police Department at 627-4300 or the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at (702) 229-2907.
He has been on the news in Vegas and St. George. There are putting his pic on milk cartons sometime soon.

Steve Koecher
The last time the neighbors saw Steve was 10:30 pm Saturday night (12/11/09). John across the street said saw Steve & his car there for about 20 or 30 min and he was gone by 10:30 pm.
Sunday morning (12/13/09) a friend from his church ward called him and ask if he could teach a lesson that day.
Steve answered and said that he was in Vegas but he could come back and teach if they couldn't find any one else.
That was the last time anyone heard from him or saw him.
On Thursday the Henderson police called Steve's parents because his car had been at a 55 and older community, since Sun, abandoned.
His parents filed missing persons on Friday and hired a PI.

I'm sorry I haven't been posting replies. I'll try to get some in today.
I've never heard of the portfolio. Off the cuff I would say it was a resume. These links have been on the news so I feel ok posting them here. One of the white cars driving by is Steven's, then you see him walking down the street. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abSZetr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOZmHOh I'm not sure where you all would dig, but you're the pros. Could you all look at craigs list or something and see if there's anything, job wise, that would appeal to Steven in the area of Henderson in the time range of November and the beginning of December? He's a communications major and has worked in the newspaper business. I don't think he would look for further work in window washing. I think that's just something to pay the bills, but anything is possible. |

Have the cops checked him out?
Here's [websleuths.com] a thread for him where his cousin is answering questions.
The house is a three bedroom two bath house. We rented the two smaller rooms out and kept the master bedroom/bath for us to use since we travel so much & are down there often visiting our family and friends.
The masterbedroom has it's own private entrance so even when we were staying there we didn't go into the rest of the house. (DH would walk through just to make sure no holes were put in walls and the place wasn't being trashed)
With two single guys living there, there was usually a sink of nasty dishes and the house while not messy was pretty dirty. Like not vacuumed or mopped so the floors were pretty dusty & sticky. Not something you want your baby crawling around on.
The house was our pit stop for the night and we were never there much during the day. Once Steve started having trouble paying rent I did venture into the house just to glance into his room and see if he had packed up and bailed on us but his stuff was still always there and it looked like he was still living there.
We did keep the utility bills in our names and split them with the tennants. We were having the utility bills mailed to us and then letting the tennants know their share.
The other renter did bail, he moved in the night and left his room locked. Steve called DH the next morning asking if we had been there because stuff was missing and he wasn't sure if the house had been broken into or not. Jordan took some of our stuff, but mostly just his stuff I guess, like the toaster, trashcan, coffee maker, pans some other stuff. Steve never mentioned if Jordan stole anything from him. That was about a month and a half or so before Steve went missing.
When we were finally able to get into Jordans room there was evidence of pot in there. He didn't vacuum before he left so there was obvious stems and flakes of weed plus some on a shelf like he had just made a blunt before he left. The cops have seen it all and I know they have questioned Jordan a few times.
I just hope they can find Steve soon. I feel so sad for his family and I can't imagine Steve leaving on purpose knowing how devastated his family would be. They are a really close family.

I wonder if law enforcement can enhance the footage and get a license plate number from the vehicle.
Perhaps, he intentionally set up a meeting with a friend and planned to disappear.. There are people who just decide to walk away from their lives, like Nicolas Francisco and there was a guy who attended Rice University in Houston ~named Matthew Wilson ~who just "disappeared" awhile back.. he was finally tracked down in San Fransisco where he started a new life... (think Nicholas was found in San Fran too...hmmmmmmmmmmmmm)..
Then again, it could be foul play.. someone could have been following him in the neighborhood and abducted him??.. . but I definitely hope LE is trying to find that white SUV. It might hold the key.
Going back to finish reading that thread - I am on post 101 now.. thanks.. BBL.
I *hope* he just took off and will contact his family soon.. I am just really stumped on this one.
It just gets more crazy by the minute. I'm keeping the faith though and keeping up with the evidence until hopefully, he comes home.

I didn't realize he had two toys. Seems odd for a single 30 something male.
I think it is crazy to believe that he decided to take his two tiny kids out camping, leave in the middle of the night in one of the worst snowstorms. First as a mom I would say hell no your not taking my kids camping in this cold ass snow! Not that young. Tweens or teens, sure they need to realize how easy they got it, but toddlers? I don't think so.

Plus watching the video, I was going to link it in the wikki, but it most deffinatly DOES look like that white SUV was following him! They even stop at the top of the street while he is walking down the street and it looks like they are sitting there watching him. It gave me chills!
I feel so sad for his family! They are so going through so much. I have always known that the families of missing people must be sick with worry but this is the first time I've been close enought to the situation to feel it more deeply I guess. I'm not sure what I'm even trying to say but I think about Steve every single day, worry and wonder. It has to be so much worse for them. I just keep thinking of his mom, I just want to hug her and cry with her. I guess it's being a mom and I hug my little tiny son who just turned one and I can't imagine him being taken from me. I would. feel. like. dying. I would search every day, all day, as much as humanly possible.
