His car was found abandoned in Henderson, NV at a 55 and over community, it had been there over 4 days.
Residents called the police when the car had been there for so long.
We have a rental house about 2 hours from Henderson & Steve has lived there for about a year.
I hope he is okay! It seems unreal that he is really missing.
Here is a link to his facebook with his pic. If anyone has any information please call.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Koecher to contact the St. George Police Department at 627-4300 or the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at (702) 229-2907.
He has been on the news in Vegas and St. George. There are putting his pic on milk cartons sometime soon.

Steve Koecher
The last time the neighbors saw Steve was 10:30 pm Saturday night (12/11/09). John across the street said saw Steve & his car there for about 20 or 30 min and he was gone by 10:30 pm.
Sunday morning (12/13/09) a friend from his church ward called him and ask if he could teach a lesson that day.
Steve answered and said that he was in Vegas but he could come back and teach if they couldn't find any one else.
That was the last time anyone heard from him or saw him.
On Thursday the Henderson police called Steve's parents because his car had been at a 55 and older community, since Sun, abandoned.
His parents filed missing persons on Friday and hired a PI.

I'm sorry I haven't been posting replies. I'll try to get some in today.
I've never heard of the portfolio. Off the cuff I would say it was a resume. These links have been on the news so I feel ok posting them here. One of the white cars driving by is Steven's, then you see him walking down the street. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abSZetr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOZmHOh I'm not sure where you all would dig, but you're the pros. Could you all look at craigs list or something and see if there's anything, job wise, that would appeal to Steven in the area of Henderson in the time range of November and the beginning of December? He's a communications major and has worked in the newspaper business. I don't think he would look for further work in window washing. I think that's just something to pay the bills, but anything is possible. |

It looks like the family is saying the ears are to round, Steven's are more oblong.
Steven parents aren't buying it. They said that although Steven had recently obtained a passport - the passport was found in a drawer.
I think Josh did away with Susan (unfortunately) and if he did, then it is despicable to use Steven's disappearance to try to side track the investigation into his wife's disappearance.

Here is a link to Josh Powell's BS theory.. he slanders Susan's parents quite bad in it..
http://www.susanpowell.org/Pages/Response/Steven-Koecher-Susan-Powell/Steven-Koecher-Susan-Powell-Parallel-Utah-Disappearances-Connection.aspx
But in the days right before he dissapeared he did make a crazy long road trip up to northern Utah where he did not contact his family at all but instead spent a few hours with the family of an old friend.
I always thought that theory was impossible. Steven's family does have his passport. It just never seemed Steven was the type of person to do something like that, or pull something like that off.

I think Steven is being used to send the investigation in another direction.
I do still hope that Steven did leave willingly.
LE has said they can't find a link.. and they've done computer forensics on his computer, right? Wouldn't there be some sign of them contacting each other; whether via the computer or telephone? Seems like if they had been secretly dating, like Josh's father alleges - there would be some record.. either cell phone records or computer forensics should have found something... or possibly friends would have known about it?!?
While I wish it was true, because it would mean that Steven and Susan are still alive.. I just really don't think that's the case, but I guess we'll see.
BTW, thank you for that link.. in it, Josh's father says that Susan left journals which detailed her sexual urges or whatever---but that the media, the public and even the police haven't seen the journals.. if the journals are as important as they imply, why wouldn't they hand that off to law enforcement?

They did examine every call Steven made, they made contact with many phone numbers looking for clues, they also did have his computer examinted by forensic detectives, nothing.
I can't imagine Susan would leave her little boys either, she was very much a hands on mom. As a mom I could never just abandon my kids, I don't understand the moms that do or the ones that harm their childern.
When Steven's abandoned car was found he had left behind personal items in the car as well as gas and fast food receipts, even a receipt from Kmart. No evidence was found that there was any other person in the car besides Steven and that he was alone. There was gas station footage of him alone getting gas in Mesquite NV also the home security camera footage from Henderson NV where he walked away from his car showed him driving into the neighborhood alone and leaving his car alone.
I do wish it was true just for the fact they would both be alive and having one hell of a time. But I think that it is a pretty far fetched theory.
I do think it is insane that a dad would take his boys camping at midnight in snowstorms. By midnight small children like that would be asleep and I would never allow my husband to wake them up and take them out camping in the middle of the night in a huge snowstorm. I mean if he want's to spend time with his boys why not take them sleding the next day or something, when they are awake!
I can see if they were older and interested in deer hunting or something, then maybe but to just load up the little ones out of their warm beds to take them camping on a whim in below freezing temps in the middle of a snowstorm ?
I just hope someday soon both families will have answers and won't have to go through the agony of wondering every day.
