I've used this on door hinges, kids bicycle, and even on hvac fan bearings and it works great.
Don't recommend it for sliding doors as it accumulates too much dirt and junk.

Inside the house...motor oil is smelly and has all kinds of additives that are best left to outside spaces.
For hinges, sewing machines, small appliances, zippers, luggage casters...3-in-1 is a better choice.

But WD-40 [wd40.com] makes dozens of different products for many specialized applications and they seem to be pretty good for what they're designed for.
It should be noted that 3-in-1 [3inone.com] is also a WD-40 product.
